JOB SUMMARY:
The Clinical Coordinator, MSN NP, is responsible for helping to set up precepted clinical experiences for the nurse practitioner programs. These clinical experiences take place in a health care facility/organization under the supervision of an approved clinical preceptor from the health care organization. These experiences involve shadowing and/or working with an Advanced Practice Health Care Provider and involve direct patient/client care. The Clinical Coordinator MSN NP acts as a liaison between the College and the health care organization. The Clinical Coordinator MSN NP oversees students' precepted clinical experiences to confirm that all applicable American Sentinel policies and regulatory requirements are being met and that the student fulfills the requirements of the clinical experience for each course.
ORGANIZATIONAL DIMENSIONS OF JOB:
The Clinical Coordinator MSN NP works with the health care facility/organization to identify and obtain appropriate practicum sites, identify and approve preceptors from the sites, obtain sites, student and preceptor affiliation agreements signed, and ensure smooth completion of precepted clinical hours by the American Sentinel student. The Clinical Coordinator MSN NP works with the Program Chair, faculty, students, and representatives of health care facilities/organizations.
DUTIES:
QUALIFICATIONS:
A Bachelor of Science in Nursing is required, and a minimum of one years of clinical coordination experience in an academic setting, preferred. Unencumbered current Registered Nurse License. Must also maintain all state licensure requirements for clinical coordinator as specified by state boards of nursing.
