Clinical Coordinator (RN) – Forensic Nursing / SANE Program

This is a unique opportunity for a Registered Nurse to step into forensic nursing and make a direct impact in the lives of survivors, while being supported by an experienced and collaborative team.
POSITION OVERVIEW
The Tuscaloosa SAFE Center is seeking a Registered Nurse to serve as a Clinical Coordinator, providing trauma-informed care to survivors of sexual assault across West Alabama.
This role combines hands-on clinical care, coordination, and community engagement. SANE training is preferred but not required at the time of hire, training will be provided. We are looking for someone who can learn quickly, think critically, and step into a meaningful, independent clinical role.
This role is supported by a collaborative team environment, with experienced staff available for guidance while maintaining a high level of independence in patient care.
SALARY & BENEFITS
Starting at $50,000, based on experience.

SCHEDULE
- Monday–Friday, 8:30 AM – 4:30 PM (in-office)
- Attendance during scheduled office hours is required; any schedule adjustments must be approved in advance
- Participation in on-call coverage (nights, weekends, and holidays) required; schedule determined based on program needs
- PRN staff primarily cover scheduled on-call shifts; the Clinical Coordinator is expected to assist with coverage as needed to support program operations
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Provide forensic medical exams and trauma-informed patient care
- Conduct forensic interviews, evidence collection, and documentation
- Coordinate care across medical providers, advocacy, and law enforcement
- Ensure continuity of care through follow-up and referrals
- Participate in legal proceedings, including testimony as needed
- Assist with community education (nursing students, law enforcement, community partners)
- Maintain accurate documentation and participate in quality assurance processes
- Respond to cases independently after training
TRAINING & EXPECTATIONS
- SANE trained preferred, but not required at time of hire
- Must complete 40-hour SANE training within 2 weeks of hire
- Completion of orientation cases may be required based on prior experience and program needs
- Expected to transition to independent case response once competency is demonstrated
- Ongoing participation in cases is required to maintain clinical competency
QUALIFICATIONS
- Active RN license in Alabama
- Prior nursing experience required; 2 or more years preferred
- Emergency Department and/or Women’s Health experience preferred
- Strong clinical judgment and ability to work independently
- Excellent communication and organizational skills
- Compassionate, non-judgmental approach to patient care
- Willingness to participate in on-call coverage
- Ability to balance clinical responsibilities, coordination, and community engagement
