Clinical Documentation Coordinator - Quality Management

Founded in 1938, Wilcox Medical Center is a not-for-profit medical center dedicated to providing the Kaua‘i community with accessible quality health care. The largest medical center on Kaua‘i, it is a state-of-the-art acute care facility with a full suite of services offering 30 specialties and programs, including cardiology, emergency, family practice, gastroenterology, health management, internal medicine, neurology, OB-GYN, oncology, orthopedics, pediatrics and urology. Its 18-bed emergency department serves as the island’s Primary Stroke Center. The medical center also has four birthing suites, seven intensive care beds and 20 same-day surgery beds. Wilcox is the first American College of Surgeons-verified Level III Trauma Center in the state of Hawai‘i. Wilcox is part of Hawai‘i Pacific Health, one of the state’s leading health care systems and a not-for-profit health care organization with medical centers, clinics, physicians and other caregivers working together to create a healthier Hawai‘i.

At Wilcox Memorial Hospital, the Quality Management team strengthens the organization by promoting a data-driven approach to systematic quality and improvement. The team maintains accreditation status with The Joint Commission and with Federal and State regulating agencies. It supports the mission of the organization by ensuring that appropriate quality tools are used to measure and facilitate performance improvements, and promoting a culture of safety. Among other services, the department staff participates in national quality programs to ensure the monitoring of quality performance and evaluate how standards are being met.

As the Quality Management and Peer Review Clinical Coordinator, you will provide strategic oversight to uphold our patient safety and quality of service. This includes overseeing performance improvement initiatives and programs for the facility; implementing the clinical processes of the peer review system; assuring that clinical reviews are timely and effective; reviewing selected case referrals; maintaining databases and supporting the peer review committees. You will also serve as a facility resource, coordinating organizational efforts to prepare for reviews by The Joint Commission and other accrediting agencies. Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor's Degree in Nursing or other clinical field, or equivalent combination of education, training, and experience. Current Hawaii Registered Nurse license. Valid driver's license and current Hawaii auto insurance. Three (3) years clinical experience in a hospital or healthcare related field. One (1) year experience in quality, utilization or peer review coordination.

Preferred Qualifications: Master's Degree. Clinical Documentation Improvement (CDI) certification.
