The Clinical Informatics Nurse (CIN) is responsible for participating in the planning, development, training, implementation, evaluation, and maintenance of assigned Clinical Information Systems. The CIN functions as a liaison for additional Clinical Informatics Systems as requested. The CIN is responsible for facilitating communication from the clinical end users across the patient care departments, while working collaboratively and directly with the vendors and technical experts. The Clinical Informatics Nurse (CIN) works to optimize the clinical design to meet the needs of a large group of interdisciplinary end users, including physicians, nurses, ancillary, clinical, and administrative staff. The Clinical Informatics Nurse (CIN) participates on the Clinical Informatics Team, establishing teamwork through appropriate deployment of process, technical, and human resources. This position reports to the Clinical Informatics Manager.
The Clinical Informatics Nurse (CIN) shall act as liaison between the hospital’s clinical areas and the IT Department. This includes the primary responsibility of determining the needs and requirements for clinical applications in the healthcare setting. The Clinical Informatics Nurse (CIN) will also lead the evaluation, selection, and implementation of clinical systems (i.e., EMR, etc.). This individual will work with staff and physicians to optimize the use of clinical systems through education and training, quality outcomes, and providing support in accordance with organizational goals.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • The Clinical Informatics Nurse (CIN) is responsible for participating in the planning, development, training, implementation, evaluation, and maintenance of assigned Clinical Information Systems (i.e., EMR, etc.).
  • The Clinical informatics Nurse (CIN) is an expert in patient safety, and the use of technology to optimize care delivery processes and effectively communicates patient care activity.
  • The Clinical informatics Nurse (CIN) specializes in patient care processes and clinician workflow and leads initiatives to promote effective process design, development, and implementation of the electronic medical records and other technologies.
  • The Clinical informatics Nurse (CIN) will act as liaison between the hospital’s clinical areas and the IT Department and determine the needs and requirements for clinical applications in the hospital.
  • This role supports physicians, nurses, pharmacists, and other clinicians as the resource for requests related to technology changes.
  • The Clinical informatics Nurse (CIN) demonstrates independent decision making as appropriate in evaluation of requests for system improvements and determines feasibility and advisability of system changes.
  • Responsible as a thought leader for maximizing technology design to achieve the best clinical outcomes and leads the Hospital’s approach to clinical documentation in collaboration with the Clinical Informatics Team.
  • Acts as the thought leader and resource for clinicians on the clinical information system and patient care processes to promote optimal care, reduce errors, and achieve Hospital’s goals.
  • Accountable for measurable improvements in clinician satisfaction with technology, and in the use of technology as a facilitator of best practices, patient safety, and error avoidance.
  • Can run and analyze reports as needed for all management staff.
  • Other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Bachelor's degree in nursing preferred.
  • Familiar with clinical applications (preferable Meditech) and previous work experience in a healthcare setting.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Should be highly analytical and able to explain complex terminology to administration, medical staff, and other non-technical professionals.
