The role is night shift, Mon-Fri 2230 to 0700. We offer a generous shift differential and excellent benefits.

This role requires your ability to think critically in a high complexity environment. An aptitude in this area, regardless of your laboratory background will make you a top candidate. Experience in HLA is a plus. However, we offer excellent training.

Highlights of this role include:

* Performs HLA antibody identification, crossmatching, and typing, including for deceased donor workups.

*Test specimens, analyze, interpret, and report results. Investigate and report trends or shifts in quality control. Perform troubleshooting of instrumentation and assay using procedure manuals and manufacturer's documentation.

*Perform complex assays and provide both verbal and written results to Directors and other clinicians.

*Participate in lab projects and Quality Control testing.

REQUIREMENTS:

California Clinical Laboratory Scientist (CLS) or Clinical Histocompatibility Scientist (CHS) license required. Out of state candidates qualify if MLS (ASCP) or CHT/CHS (ACHI) certified.

HLA experience is highly preferred

If no prior HLA experience, we will consider CLS (Generalists) with prior experience in high complexity testing.

Responsibilities

  • Perform complex laboratory tests related to HLA typing, including PCR (Polymerase Chain Reaction), flow cytometry, ELISA (Enzyme-Linked Immunosorbent Assay), and immunoassays with meticulous attention to detail.
  • Conduct RNA extraction, DNA isolation, and specimen collection/processing to support clinical trials and research laboratory projects.
  • Manage laboratory data accurately using Laboratory Information Management Systems (LIMS), ensuring proper documentation and data integrity for all assays performed.
  • Maintain strict aseptic techniques during specimen handling to prevent contamination and ensure reliable results.
  • Operate and calibrate laboratory equipment such as thermal cyclers for PCR, flow cytometers, and blood banking instruments while adhering to safety protocols.
  • Assist with laboratory management tasks including inventory control, quality assurance procedures, and compliance with hospital or regulatory standards.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams by providing detailed reports on laboratory findings, vital signs when necessary, and interpreting medical terminology relevant to blood sampling and physiology knowledge.

Experience

  • Proven clinical laboratory experience with a strong background in immunology or molecular biology techniques such as PCR, flow cytometry, ELISA, and immunoassays.
  • Hands-on experience in specimen collection, venipuncture (blood sampling), phlebotomy, and blood banking procedures within a hospital or research setting.
  • Familiarity with laboratory management systems (LIMS) for data entry, tracking samples, and maintaining accurate records.
  • Knowledge of anatomy, physiology, and medical terminology relevant to blood sampling and laboratory diagnostics.
  • Experience working in clinical trials or research laboratories that involve assay development or validation is highly desirable.
  • Ability to interpret test results accurately while adhering to laboratory procedures and safety standards.

Pay: $73.00 - $78.00 per hour
