Job Description:
The Clinical Laboratory Scientist (CLS) performs complex laboratory testing across multiple disciplines to support the diagnosis, treatment, and monitoring of patient conditions. As a generalist, the CLS works independently and collaborates with clinical teams to ensure accurate, timely, and high-quality laboratory results. Basic experience in Microbiology and Blood Bank is preferred.
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform analytical testing in Chemistry, Hematology, Coagulation, Urinalysis, Immunology, Microbiology, and Blood Bank.
- Validate, interpret, and report laboratory results with accuracy and precision.
- Operate, maintain, and troubleshoot laboratory instruments and analyzers.
- Perform specimen handling, processing, and storage according to established protocols.
- Conduct quality control, quality assurance, and proficiency testing in compliance with regulatory standards.
- Identify critical values and communicate them promptly to appropriate clinical personnel.
- Follow laboratory safety practices and infection control guidelines.
- Document all testing procedures and results in the laboratory information system (LIS).
- Assist in training and orientation of new staff or students as needed.
- Collaborate with pathologists, physicians, and clinical teams to support patient care.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Clinical Laboratory Science, Medical Technology, or related field (required).
- Valid state CLS license or equivalent certification, if applicable.
- ASCP, AMT, or AAB certification preferred.
- Experience as a generalist with basic skills in Microbiology and Blood Bank strongly preferred.
- Strong understanding of laboratory principles, instrumentation, and diagnostic workflows.
