We are seeking a dedicated, detail-oriented Medical Scribe to join our outpatient neurosurgery team. In this vital role, you will support our healthcare providers by accurately documenting patient encounters and ensuring the seamless flow of medical information throughout our specialized practice.

Responsibilities
- Clinical Documentation: Accurately record patient encounters, including comprehensive medical histories, presenting symptoms, physical exam findings, and treatment plans specific to neurosurgical care.
- Patient Coordination: Support patient services by scheduling appointments, managing neurosurgical medical records, and maintaining organized, accurate documentation.
- Compliance & Coding: Ensure adherence to proper coding, documentation standards, and neurosurgery-specific regulatory requirements.
- Insurance Support: Demonstrate a willingness to learn insurance protocols and prior authorization procedures, collaborating with the team to streamline administrative workflows.
- Health Record Maintenance: Update patient history, physical examination findings, and other relevant health information in the electronic medical record (EMR) system.
- Documentation Review: Prepare and send documentation to physicians for review and approval, ensuring accuracy and adherence to facility-specific procedures.
- Attendance: Consistent, reliable attendance is required at the assigned facility.
Education & Experience
- Knowledge of medical terminology and human anatomy strongly preferred.
- Familiarity with insurance guidelines and prior authorization processes is a plus
Technical & Computer Skills
- Proficiency with EMR systems (experience with eClinicalWorks is a plus).
- Skilled in using medical software, word processing, and database programs.
- Typing speed of 60 words per minute or more strongly preferred.

- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Excellent observational skills with the ability to document events accurately and coherently in grammatically correct language.
- Strong attention to detail with proficiency in spelling, proofreading, and editing written content.

- Ability to communicate and interact professionally with both patients and colleagues.
- Commitment to maintaining strict confidentiality of patient records.
Physical Demands
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced clinical environment.
- Proficiency in reading, writing, listening, and speaking English; fluency in Spanish is preferred.
- Ability to operate a computer and other office equipment for extended periods, including typing, clicking, and viewing a monitor.
