Physician Assistant or Clinical Assistant (PA/CI.A)
to join the clinical team at the
Clinique Notre Dame Clinic
and
Centre de santé Notre Dame Health Centre

, ending one year from the start date, with the possibility of extension.

Position Summary
The Physician or Clinical Assistant (PA/CI.A) is an academically prepared healthcare professional educated in the medical model who practices medicine under the supervision of licensed physicians within a patient‑centered interprofessional healthcare team. The PA/CI.A functions as a physician extender and is
not
an independent practitioner. Effective communication in English with all members of the interdisciplinary team is required. Communicating in French is deemed an asset.
Key Responsibilities
Clinical Duties

Conduct patient assessments, including history‑taking and physical examinations, within scope of practice

Assist physicians with diagnosis, treatment planning, and follow‑up care
-
Perform authorized clinical procedures (e.g., wound care, injections, specimen collection, point‑of‑care testing)

Support physicians during examinations, minor procedures, and interventions
-
Document all patient encounters accurately in the electronic medical record (EMR)
-
Participate in care planning, case discussions, and interdisciplinary collaboration

Support document review, results management and medical review/management
-
Support physicians with completing forms as required.
Patient Support

Provide patient education regarding treatment plans, medications, and follow‑up instructions
-
Ensure culturally safe, respectful, and patient‑centered care
-
Coordinate referrals, diagnostic testing, and specialist consultations
-
Support patient flow and contribute to a positive clinic environment
Administrative & Team Support
-
Maintain accurate and confidential patient records
-
Assist with scheduling, documentation, and communication between care providers
-
Participate in quality‑improvement initiatives, safety protocols, and team meetings
-
Attend clinical and educational rounds
-
Uphold Southern Health–Santé Sud policies, standards, and infection‑control procedures
-
Work collaboratively with other members of the team
Qualifications:
General Requirements
-
Eligible for licensure with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Manitoba (CPSM) as a Physician Assistant or Clinical Assistant
-
Eligible for a Medical Staff Appointment
-
Prior experience preferred
-
Bilingual is an asset
-
Demonstrated ability to meet the physical and mental demands of the job

Demonstrated ability to maintain confidentiality in all formats

Good work and attendance record

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills

Ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary team

Strong organizational skills and attention to detail

Proficiency with EMR systems is an asset

Physician Assistant Requirements

Graduate of a Physician Assistant educational program acceptable to CPSM
Clinical Assistant Requirements

Graduate of an accredited medical school in Canada or abroad

NAC OSCE

LMCC
