Clinical Outreach Coordinator

As part of a diverse community of faculty and staff who represent many faith systems and worldviews, Marian University is seeking a Clinical Operations Coordinator within the office of Counseling and Consultation Services (CCS). Reporting to the Director of Counseling and Consultation Services, this position will promote our Catholic Franciscan mission and identity by providing clinical support and coordination of crisis and emergency intakes, mental health trainings for students, faculty, and staff, topical mental health workshops for students and development of peer health education programming. In addition, this position is responsible for front office management services including serving as the first point of contact for students interfacing with the CCS office, maintaining the Center’s client scheduling system and assisting the director of the center with duties as assigned and related to the Center's mission of providing mental health services for students, outreach, and consultation resources for faculty and staff. This position works collaboratively with many university offices to support the University’s strategic initiatives of the Division of Student Success and Engagement to ensure student wellbeing and success.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Outreach, Consultation and Liaison Services:

  • Coordinate and oversee the development, planning, implementation, and evaluation of theory-based and evidence-informed mental health promotion programs
  • Provide drop-in topical mental health workshops for enrolled students
  • Provide triage assessments and screenings to assist clinical staff in identification of severity and level of client need for clinical intervention
  • Create training and orientation videos augmenting counseling center resources for use with students, faculty and staff, and FYS courses
  • Manage CCS social media and website content adding updates, mental health resources and listing counseling center events each week.
  • Assist with development, coordination and training of peer health education program
  • Work collaboratively with other university departments to identify student needs and facilitate clinician involvement in mental health program requests
  • Serve on committees as appropriate or as requested by Director of Counseling

Counseling Clinic Office Support Services :

  • Provide superior-quality customer service to clients, students, faculty and staff who interact with the CCS office.
  • Manage confidential information in a sensitive and ethical manner strictly adhering to HIPPA compliance
  • Manage emotionally distressed students and mental health crisis situations in a calm, empathic, respectful,
  • Provide counseling center staff trainings and workshops on technology and software for presentations and administrative tasks/reporting data
  • Maintain office policies and procedures manual.
  • Complete and maintain all client records documentation and client scheduling in appropriate, accurate, and timely manner using counseling center’s electronic management system (EMS).
  • Research, create, assemble and coordinate meeting materials for CCS staff
  • Maintain inventory of supplies and equipment for programming and general office needs

General Essential Duties:

  • Understand and comply with the protocols, policies and procedures of CCS office
  • Maintain awareness of current research and best practices in university counseling centers
  • Maintain legal, ethical, and moral standards of mental health care using sound judgment and care around client confidentiality and privacy
  • Assist on special projects and other duties as required or assigned by CCS Director
  • Establish and maintain a positive working rapport with all staff, work as a team member and demonstrate a positive, proactive approach to daily operations

  • Master’s degree from an accredited college or university in social work, psychology, counseling, education, or a related mental health field.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to maintain sense of calm in crisis management situations
  • Strong Oral Communication Skills; effective and engaging presenter for college student population
  • Strong written communication skills
  • Strong Computer/IT skills including but not limited to Microsoft Office, PowerPoint and EMS platforms
  • Ability to understand and adhere to the legal and ethical confidentiality boundaries pertaining to sensitive, highly confidential counseling information.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Ability to work with diverse groups to maintain effective working relationships with students, staff, faculty and other stakeholders
  • Office Management experience preferred but not required

Essential Functions:

Work hours necessary to perform job requirements satisfactorily on a regular basis. Manage absence from work in responsible manner to ensure service to clients, work teams, and coworkers. Comply with Marian University policies and practices and seeking clarification of them when necessary.
