Clinical Placement Coordinator

Position Description:

Under the direct supervision of the Director of Nursing, the Clinical Placement Coordinator is responsible for facilitating and coordinating clinical rotation assignments for Vocational Nursing students. Serving as the primary liaison between Summit College Nursing programs, students, and clinical partners, the Clinical Placement Coordinator ensures that all clinical placements meet regulatory and program requirements while supporting student success in hands-on training experiences. Regular and reliable attendance required.

. Essential Functions:

  • Coordinate, schedule, and monitor clinical rotation assignments in alignment with curriculum and state board requirements.
  • Serve as the central liaison between the College, students, and clinical site representatives to ensure effective communication and compliance with both parties.
  • Coordinate reassignment of students to alternate clinical sites in cases where placements are affected by regulatory audits.
  • Maintain positive working relationships with clinical sites, negotiating and securing placements to meet and anticipate program capacity needs.
  • Track clinical placement records, site capacity, and clinical hours to ensure compliance with regulatory bodies (e.g., BVNPT, ACCET).
  • Prepare and distribute clinical rotation schedules and communicate requirements (orientation, dress code, onboarding, background checks, etc.) to students and faculty.
  • Ensure all required site documentation (affiliation agreements, orientation forms, health requirements, etc.) is current and complete prior to cohort placement.
  • Monitor feedback and site evaluations; escalate concerns to nursing leadership as needed.
  • Assist faculty in resolving student issues at clinical sites, maintaining professional and supportive communication.
  • Work with VN Admin Assistant to maintain student health records in accordance with BVNPT and institutional requirements.
  • Support program improvement by identifying trends, recommending solutions, and maintaining strong relationships with clinical partners.
  • Work with DON to provide substitute coverage as needed.
  • Work with the VN CSA for advisory board meetings, providing program updates, collecting feedback, and ensuring alignment with BVNPT and industry standards.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Director of Nursing.

Education and/or Work Experience Requirements:

  • · Current California RN license.
  • Associate’s degree or higher preferred; equivalent combination of education and related healthcare/academic experience may be considered.
  • Minimum of three (3) years of clinical nursing experience required.
  • Experience in nursing education, clinical placement coordination, or healthcare operations preferred.
  • Strong organizational and time-management skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for working with students, faculty, and clinical site representatives.
  • Familiarity with BVNPT requirements and vocational nursing program compliance standards strongly preferred.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and student information systems (SIS).

Licensure Requirements:

  • Current California RN license.

Pay: $45.00 - $50.00 per hour
