SIBCR’s research spans a broad range of areas such as mental health; neuroscience; diabetes, endocrinology and nutrition; prosthetics; oncology; age-related diseases; and, pulmonary diseases. We are seeking a Research Assistant for Drs. David Au and Lucas Donovan in the VA HSR Centers of Innovation (COINs)
Summary:
The Clinical Research Assistant will work as a key team member on pulmonary studies based at the VA Puget Sound Health Care System Center of Innovation, including trials sponsored by the Patient-Centered Outcomes Research Institute (PCORI) and/or the American Lung Association Airways Clinical Research Centers (ACRC) – see below for links to these studies. This position requires an individual who understands the principles of scientific investigation and clinical trials and is capable of in-depth understanding of the study protocol. The candidate must possess strong scientific, organizational, and interpersonal skills. The position is full-time, Monday through Friday, with potential for hybrid in-person/telework after training period. Travel between the Seattle VA Medical Center and American Lake VA locations may be required. Salary will be based according to the applicant’s research experience and includes benefits.
Responsibilities may include:
Provide daily operational support.
Assist/provide support to recruitment, screening, enrollment, consent, and follow-up of clinical trial participants according to study protocols, including:
reviewing medical charts for eligibility, outcomes, and adverse events
conducting study visits
administering questionnaires
measuring vital signs including height, weight, and blood pressure
timely and accurate data entry
preparing participant mailings
tracking study activities
conducting and transcribing qualitative interviews
communication with study participants and medical professionals
Prepare/distribute meeting agendas and notes
Assist with:
Database and/or electronic data capture system maintenance
Stakeholder and DSMB meeting preparation
Report preparation
Manual of Operations maintenance
Requirements Knowledge, Skills, and Experience:
BA/BS in scientific or health related field
Human subjects/clinical trial research
Outstanding organizational and communication skills
Keen attention to detail
Ability to work in a collaborative team environment
Research compliance regulations
Microsoft Office applications
Desirable Knowledge, Skills, and Experience:
Electronic medical record systems
Electronic data capture systems, e.g. REDCap
Clinical health care
1-2 year health service research experience will be given preference

Conditions of Employment:
