Clinical Research Assistant- in person

Position Title: Clinical Research Assistant
Reports to: Director of Clinical Research

POSITION PURPOSE

The Clinical Research Assistant (RA) is responsible for the administration of clinical trials procedures under the direction of the Principal Investigator, the Sub-Investigator, and the Director of Clinical Research.
The RA will administer clinical trial procedures for the successful management of clinical trials. The RA will perform diverse administrative duties requiring analysis, sound judgment, and a high level of knowledge of study-specific protocols.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Adhere to Good Clinical Practices and the study protocols
  • Ensure the scientific integrity of data and protect the rights, safety, and well-being of patients enrolled in clinical trials
  • Collect, process, and ship blood/urine specimens at scheduled patient visits
  • Perform ECGs and obtain vital signs of patients
  • Ensures research equipment is calibrated and properly maintained before use.
  • Schedule all patient research visits and procedures consistent with protocol requirements
  • Other duties as assigned.

ROOM MAINTENANCE

  • At the start of the workday, checks all treatment rooms to assure that they are ready for patients, clean and stocked.
  • Clean rooms between patients, changing table paper, and cleaning tables and countertops etc.

PATIENT CARE

1. Escort patients to the exam room a. Listen to the patient and document patient concerns. b. Assist patient with disrobing if necessary. c. Take photographs for analysis purposes. d. When necessary, give a summary of patient concerns to the clinical provider at days visit e. Assist and scribe for a physician with an exam of the patient. f. Updates and documents all patient medical history accurately before any treatments g. Acquires all proper consents before treating a patient. h. Obtain samples, product, or services form for the patient or other supplies that are needed during the visit. i. Answer all patient questions. When required, refers the patient to the physician. j. Provide patient education for any post-care.

k. Escort patient to the check out location.
2. Perform in-office lab tests as required
3. Set up and assist in cosmetic procedures with the designated instruments and sterile field. a. Explains procedure to the patient and obtains informed consent b. Provides aftercare instructions to the patient after the procedure

ROUTINE MAINTENANCE

1. Transports used instruments from room to the instrument maintenance area, keeping safety standards in mind. a. Cleans instruments and wraps appropriately.
2. Checks rooms at end of day to make certain they are clean and stocked for the next day.
3. Maintains inventory of cosmetic and surgical supplies and places orders appropriately.
4. Keeps medication and binder closets in order, making certain that all expired medications are appropriately discarded.

OTHER

  • Maintains professional behavior and treats all patients and other staff members with respect.
  • Additional duties assigned by the healthcare provider(s), clinical operations manager or practice manager
  • This job description may change as the needs of the practice change.
  • Works on all administrative work during any down time, such as tasks, result callbacks, voicemails, faxes, EHR intramails and restocking rooms.

Education & Experience:

  • High School Diploma, or equivalent.
  • Preferred: Medical Assistant certification from a Texas accredited school. Experience as medical assistant, in phlebotomy, or other medical background or course work
  • Required: Experience in clinical research, bilingual

Knowledge:

  • Knowledge of clinical and theoretical nursing/clinical processes and principles and regulations.
  • Knowledge of Good Clinical Practices and the regulations necessary for the protection of human subjects and the conduct of clinical research required.
  • Knowledge of the International Air Transport Association (IATA) regulations for the transportation of

Dangerous Goods also necessary.

Abilities:

  • Ability to communicate clearly, both verbal and written.
  • Able to read, analyze, and interpret information from technical procedures or governmental regulations.
  • Able to effectively present information and respond to questions from physicians, staff and patients.
  • Phlebotomy Skills Required

PHYSICAL/MENTAL DEMANDS: Must be able to stand for long periods of time as well as walking frequently.
Exert up to 35 lbs. of force occasionally and/or up to 10 lbs. of force constantly to lift, carry, push, pull, or

otherwise move objects, including the human body. Must be able to observe safe practice criteria in assisting patients and must be able to safely support full weight of a patient when necessary. Mental demands of a consist of supply Management, Verbal Communication, Professionalism, Customer Focus, Confidentiality,
Bedside Manner, Medical Teamwork. Must be able to handle stressful situations. Must possess mental acuity for attention to accuracy and detail.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $18.00 - $22.00 per hour
