POSITION TITLE: Clinical Supervision Therapist
REPORTS TO (TITLE): Director of Clinical Services
EMPLOYEE PAY STATUS: Non-Exempt
DESCRIPTION OF POSITION: Responsible for providing social service functions in the behavioral health care setting. Serves as a resource person to healthcare professionals concerning psycho-social problems, community resources. Maintains performance improvement activities within the department and participates in Quality Assurance/Performance Improvement (QAPI) activities. The Clinical Supervision Therapist, oversees and provides clinical supervision for clinicians. Responsibilities include clinical and administrative supervision of assigned caseload, assistance with program development, attendance at meetings as requested, active collaboration with other community agencies, and other duties as needed.
Senate Bill 1024 defines the number of Supervisees per Supervisor effective January 1, 2025: the law defines group supervision as two hours of face-to-face contact between one supervisor and no more than eight persons receiving supervision for providing clinical mental health services. Anyone receiving supervision for providing clinical mental health services counts as one of the eight members of the group that are allowed. The definition of triadic supervision has also been clarified to mean contact between one supervisor and two persons receiving supervision for providing clinical mental health services.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
· Willing to provide clinical support to all units (inpatient and outpatient) with various populations (Adolescents, Adults, and geriatric patients).
· Familiar with community resources.
· Has general understanding of Probable Cause Hearing Process and is able to assist with any needed support to facilitate the process.
· Keeps current with advances in counseling through continuing education, seminars, professional societies, journals, etc.
· Provides individual and group supervision to clinicians to ensure quality therapeutic services and service hours requirements.
· Reviews caseload assignment with supervisees on a weekly basis to assign and maintain full caseload.
· Proactively evaluates individual needs to provide clinical feedback for professional growth to maximize quality of care and staff productivity.
· Effectively communicates program, administrative, and clinical expectations and policies/procedures to supervisees; ensures compliance with state and federal mandates.
· Facilitates intern program with ARBH to develop and maintain that school objectives are met for participating interns. Evaluates intern practice and provides meaningful feedback to the school of origin to support school curriculum.
· Other duties as needed.
Minimum Requirements:
Education and Licensing:
· Master’s Degree in Social Work, Psychology, or Marriage Family Therapy from an accredited university. Licensed in the state of California as a Clinical Social Worker or Marriage and Family Therapist.
· Must possess and maintain one of the following active California State licenses: Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist, Licensed Mental Health Counselor, or Licensed Independent Clinical Social Worker. Must meet California State criteria for Clinical Supervision compliance.
· 2+ years clinical supervisory experience.
· BBS registration preferred (required for Outpatient).
Knowledge and Experience:
· One year experience working as a Child/Adolescent /Family Therapist.
· LPS experience preferred.
Skills and Abilities:
· Communicates appropriately and clearly to the Director of Clinical/Social Services, Outpatient Director, Chief Nursing Officer, Registered Nurses, Mental Health Workers, and ancillary members of the clinical team.
· Communicates the mission, ethics and goals of the facility, as well as the focus statement of the department.
· Maintains a good working relationship within the department and with other departments. Is open to feedback from others and implements required changes without resistance.
· Exhibits calm and controlled attitude; does not overreact to allow his/her own actions to further deteriorate the situation.
· Speaks with authority in a calm and clear voice, uses proper selection of words and has knowledge of when and how to use them.
· Accepts feedback in a positive manner and applies it to improve performance and further learning.
· Completes annual educational requirements and maintains regulatory requirements.
Pay: $34.95 - $43.14 per hour
