The Clinical Director provides strategic leadership and clinical supervision for all therapeutic services within our substance use disorder (SUD) treatment center. As a core member of the leadership team, the Clinical Director ensures the delivery of high-quality, evidence-based care, fosters a collaborative, innovative culture, maintains compliance with regulatory standards, and drives ongoing program development to maximize outcomes for clients. The Clinical Director may deliver individual sessions as needed and will model professional, ethical, and compassionate care.
Key Responsibilities:
- Clinical Leadership and Supervision
- Lead, supervise, and develop the clinical team (therapists, counselors, case managers, and related staff) to ensure fidelity to evidence-based practices and center policies. -Provide regular clinical supervision, case consultation, performance feedback, and ongoing professional development for all clinical staff. -Develop and implement standardized assessment, treatment planning, and outcomes measurement processes.
- Program Development and Innovation -Design, implement, and continuously improve treatment curricula, groups, and clinical pathways across levels of care , intensive outpatient, aftercare, etc.). -Lead the adoption of innovative practices, telehealth options, and integrated care enhancements (e.g., co-occurring disorders, medication-assisted treatment [MAT], trauma-informed care, harm reduction where appropriate). -Evaluate and integrate new evidence-based modalities and tools to enhance client outcomes and engagement.
- Training and Professional Development -Plan and execute ongoing training for clinical staff on evidenced-based treatments, assessment instruments, documentation, compliance, and cultural humility. -Coordinate onboarding and mentorship programs for new clinicians; establish competency-based training goals. -Promote a learning culture that encourages reflective practice, research literacy, and cross-disciplinary collaboration.
- Clinical Operations and Compliance -Ensure clinical services comply with applicable regulations and accreditation standards (e.g., state licensing, Joint Commission or other accrediting bodies, HIPAA, 42 CFR Part 2, payer requirements). -Oversee clinical documentation quality, chart audits, risk management, and incident reporting. -Monitor clinical outcomes, utilization, and quality metrics; prepare regular reports for leadership and stakeholders.
- Collaboration and Leadership -Serve as a visible, collaborative leader within the organization; participate in the leadership team, contribute to strategic planning, budgeting, and resource allocation. -Foster a team-based, trauma-informed, client-centered environment that prioritizes dignity, respect, and recovery-oriented care. -Cultivate partnerships with hospitals, primary care, community organizations, and referral sources to strengthen care coordination and access.
- Client Care and Service Delivery -Provide direct clinical services as needed, including individual therapy, intake assessments, treatment planning, and crisis intervention, while maintaining appropriate caseload balance. -Champion culturally responsive practices and equitable access to services for diverse client populations.
- Quality Improvement and Outcomes -Lead program evaluation initiatives; use data to drive improvements in treatment efficacy, client satisfaction, retention, and relapse prevention. -Implement continuous quality improvement (CQI) processes and participate in external audits and surveys.
- Growth and Center Development -Identify opportunities to expand services, adopt new funding streams, and scale programs to achieve the center’s full potential. -Represent the organization in community forums, conferences, and professional networks to raise visibility and attract talent and resources.
Qualifications:
- Master’s degree or higher in Social Work, Psychology, Counseling, Addiction Counseling, or a related field. Licensure appropriate to state requirements (e.g., LCSW, LCPC, LMFT, LP, LISW, LMHC); eligibility for licensure or active practice preferred.
- Minimum of 5 years of clinical experience in substance use disorder treatment; leadership or supervisory experience required.
- Proven ability to supervise and develop clinical staff; strong knowledge of evidence-based SUD treatments (e.g., CBT, MET/MI, CBT for SUD, MAT principles, trauma-informed care, relapse prevention).
- Familiarity with regulatory and accreditation standards (e.g., state licensing, Joint Commission/other accrediting bodies), HIPAA, confidentiality laws, and 42 CFR Part 2.
- Experience with program development, curriculum design, and training delivery.
- Strong data-driven mindset with experience in outcomes measurement and quality improvement.

Pay: $70,107.00 - $84,429.93 per year
