Job Summary
Come grow with Tampa's First Custom Closet Company!
We are seeking a dynamic and detail-oriented Closet Designer (Design Consultant) to join our innovative team. In this role, you will be the creative force behind transforming clients’ spaces into functional, stylish, and personalized storage solutions. Your expertise in layout design, renovation, and high-end sales will help clients realize their dream closets while ensuring a seamless customer experience from initial consultation to installation.
We're looking for experienced, relationship-driven Closet Designers who understand both the art of design and the discipline of sales. Our designers don't just create beautiful spaces — they build trust, lead meaningful conversations, and close with confidence.
What We Offer
- Growth and stability. We are a family owned company local to Tampa that is growing fast and evolving even faster
- Flexible schedule. Earn up to six-figures working four days per week! We work with you on your schedule each month to ensure availability for appointments + balance with your own life.
- Comprehensive onboarding and training on JL Closets’ design systems and workflow (required for all designers, including experienced professionals)
- Paid training. We pay you a fixed base during the training period
- Pre-qualified company leads. We ensure a steady flow of leads so that everything you bring only provides even more opportunity for you.
- 100% commission-based compensation after the initial training period (2 months) with strong earning potential.
Who You Are
- An experienced in-home designer or consultant with a successful track record in closing sales.
- Experience with luxury clientele is highly preferred. Designers with backgrounds in high-end home improvement, luxury interiors, or hospitality excel in this role because they understand the expectations, communication style, and service standards of discerning clients. You’ll often work with homeowners who expect precision, professionalism, and a personalized experience from start to finish.
- A go-getter with natural initiative, accountability, and a strong selling mentality.
- Based in Pasco, Hillsborough, or Pinellas County, FL, with reliable transportation for client consultations.
- Personable, confident, and client-focused — you connect quickly, make clients feel at ease, and know how to guide conversations with clarity and empathy.
- Calm and professional under pressure, able to handle demanding clients without losing composure.
- Experienced in working with cold leads — meaning clients who may not know us yet. You know how to engage interest, build trust, and turn curiosity into commitment.
- A true closer — you don’t just design; you confidently lead clients through decisions and secure sales.
- Open to a commission-only compensation structure with high earning potential.
Skills & Experience
- Strong computer skills — quick to learn new systems, detail-oriented, and comfortable with digital design platforms.
- Prior in-home sales experience (required) — ideally in design, cabinetry, home organization, or other high-end in-home services.
- Commit to four full days per week. Some Saturdays required.
- CAD or 3D design experience — proficiency in tools such as ClosetPro, AutoCAD, SketchUp, or other visualization software.
- Closet or cabinetry design experience — prior work with custom closet or millwork companies is a strong plus.
- Interior design or space-planning experience — ability to design visually appealing and highly functional layouts.
