Are you passionate about working with children and nurturing their growth in a Christ-centered environment? Family of Christ Child Development Center is expanding, and we are looking for dedicated individuals to join our team. We currently have the following position available:

• Closing Preschool Teacher
• Hours: 12:45 PM to 5:45 PM

Position: Teacher

Accountable to: the Childcare Director

Purpose:

To provide the children of our members and the community with quality education and care that builds and nurtures each child’s spiritual, intellectual, emotional, social and physical development in a distinctly Christian environment where each child will feel safe, supported and valued.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities

• Provide a safe environment conducive to Christian learning that meets all necessary requirements.
• Develop meaningful, focused and Christ-centered curricula, programs and activities that lead to an exceptional learning environment.
• Prepare, post, and submit weekly lesson plans.
• Maintain a consistent and predictable schedule for the children throughout the day. Activities are curriculum-driven and a focus on learning is emphasized even during choice time. Provide activities which balance active time with quiet time, teacher directed activities with child selected ones, and structured learning with fun time.
• Ability to maintain a calm learning environment in the classroom. Using effective behavior management techniques, redirection, and natural consequences to help each child to self-regulate and develop positive behaviors.
• Respond to the individual needs and learning styles of each child.
• Communicate with parents daily, report at least one positive event about each child to the parent at pick up time.
• Use authentic observations to assess children’s development, prepare a written assessment of each child’s development twice a year and present it to parents at conference times.
• Keep children and classroom areas clean and neat. Child care staff will be responsible for all custodial duties.
• Serve as spiritual leader for your teaching team and attendees, fostering a Christian community and positively representing the ministry to the church and community.
• Attend all child care staff meetings and trainings.
• Have/Acquire SUIDS, AHT/Shaken Baby, CPR and First Aid training.
• Effectively communicate Family of Christ Childcare policies to parents and support staff.
• Help connect families enrolled in Childcare with the ministries and programs taking place at Family of Christ.

Qualifications and Education: Teacher must meet qualifications for Teacher under DHS Rule 3 Standard (Staff Qualifications 9503.0032), be willing to submit to and pass a background check including fingerprinting. BA degree in early childhood or child development preferred but not required.

Physical Requirements: The physical demands are representative of those that must be met by the Teacher to successfully perform the essential functions of the job. They include: occasionally lifting, carrying, pushing, and/or pulling up to 45 pounds, some climbing and balancing, bending and crouching to get down to the child’s level, significant fine finger dexterity.

Job Type: Part-time

Pay: $18.00 - $20.50 per hour
