The Production Manager oversees and coordinates all production activities within the clothing factory to ensure garments are manufactured efficiently, on time, within budget, and at the required quality standards. The role involves managing staff, monitoring workflow, optimizing production schedules, and ensuring compliance with health, safety, and labor standards.
Key Responsibilities1. Production Planning & Control
- Develop and implement daily, weekly, and monthly production plans in line with order requirements and delivery schedules.
- Monitor production flow to ensure timely completion of orders.
- Coordinate with the merchandising, sourcing, and planning departments to ensure raw materials and trims are available before production starts.
- Adjust production schedules based on order changes, delays, or quality issues.
2. Factory Operations Management
- Supervise cutting, sewing, finishing, and packing departments.
- Ensure machines, tools, and equipment are maintained in good condition and that downtime is minimized.
- Monitor line efficiency, productivity, and output levels, and implement improvement measures.
- Balance workloads and allocate manpower efficiently to meet targets.
3. Quality & Compliance
- Work closely with the Quality Control team to maintain product standards and minimize defects.
- Ensure compliance with buyer specifications, safety standards, and labor regulations.
- Implement continuous improvement and lean manufacturing initiatives to enhance product quality and efficiency.
4. Cost & Resource Management
- Control production costs by minimizing waste, optimizing material use, and improving labor productivity.
- Track and analyze key performance indicators (KPIs) such as efficiency, wastage, and rework rates.
- Support budgeting and cost estimation for new orders or product lines.
5. Team Leadership & Training
- Lead, train, and motivate line supervisors, production assistants, and workers.
- Foster teamwork and effective communication among production teams.
- Conduct regular performance evaluations and recommend skill development initiatives.
6. Coordination & Reporting
- Liaise with Merchandising, Quality, and Maintenance departments to ensure smooth production flow.
- Prepare and present daily/weekly/monthly production reports to senior management.
- Identify production bottlenecks and implement corrective actions.
