Key responsibilities
- Define target cloud architecture, reference designs, landing zones, and platform guardrails across AWS/Azure/GCP.
- Lead cloud migration strategies, application refactoring, and integration patterns; evaluate trade-offs (lift-and-shift, replatform, re-architect).
- Establish IaC standards (Terraform/CloudFormation/Bicep), CI/CD pipelines, and environment promotion practices.
- Define networking, identity, security, and compliance architectures (VPC/VNet design, IAM, secrets management, encryption).
- Drive cost-optimisation, capacity planning, and scalability strategies (autoscaling, caching, serverless).
- Design observability and incident response frameworks (metrics, tracing, logging, SLIs/SLOs).
- Produce architecture diagrams, decision records, and non-functional requirements; perform architecture reviews and risk assessments.
- Mentor engineers, run design workshops, and enforce platform governance and best practices.
- Evaluate emerging cloud services and vendors; lead proof-of-concepts and technology selection.
- Collaborate with security, compliance, and business stakeholders to ensure alignment with regulatory and operational requirements.
Required skills & qualifications
- 7+ years in cloud engineering/architecture or equivalent; proven track record designing production cloud systems.
- Deep experience with one or more cloud providers (AWS, Azure, GCP) and multi-cloud considerations.
- Strong IaC expertise (Terraform, CloudFormation, Bicep) and container orchestration (Kubernetes).
- Proficient in networking, identity, security, encryption, and hybrid connectivity patterns.
- Hands-on scripting or programming (Python, Go, Bash) and familiarity with CI/CD tooling.
- Experience with observability/monitoring stacks, incident management, and SRE principles.
