Responsibilities
- Work in a float capacity and expected to cover all areas of Coalfield Health Clinics on any given day.
- Greets patients and prepares them for provider’s examination. Screens patients for appropriate information. Instructs patients in collection of samples and tests. Demonstrates efficient patient work flow and appropriate prioritization and triaging of patients.
- Maintains and assists with the preparation of equipment and aids physicians during treatment, examination, and testing of patients. Considers age-related factors in care, treatment, assessment, and education of patients.
- Communicates effectively with patients and staff regarding test results, medications and treatment instructions as directed by physician / NP / PA.
- Maintains a clean, attractive work area and keeps clinical areas stocked with appropriate medical supplies.
- Cleans patient rooms and sterilizes medical instruments appropriately, etc.
- Learns and maintains up to date knowledge of the Electronic Health Records System and scheduling system used by Coalfield, can operate efficiently and accurately as needed. Ensure accuracy of documentation.
- Handles telephone inquiries from patients and/or caregivers regarding test results, medications and treatment instructions as directed by the provider.
- Assist Chronic Care Management Nurse and Quality Nurse to improve patient health.
- May be asked to administer prescribed medications and treatments in accordance within the scope of the licensed practical nursing standards.
- Completes prior authorizations as required for medical supplies, medications, etc.
- Serve as patient advocate to improve quality of care
- Follow all nursing policies and procedures.
- Greets and registers all incoming patients professionally. Handles incoming and outgoing communications concisely and in a pleasant manner.
- Updates patient demographics at every visit including but not limited to HIPAA forms, insurance, phone, address, ID, photo, etc.
- Answers telephone promptly and courteously. Routes calls as appropriate and takes/ forwards complete messages in a timely manner to the appropriate individual.
- Schedules / reschedules / cancels patient appointments for all physicians and confirms patient appointments as needed by the department to maximum efficiency.
- Completes accurate demographic and insurance information for each patient and enters information correctly into appropriate systems.
- Collects on patient accounts and/or copayments as indicated, maintains accurate accounting of petty cash fund on a daily basis.
- Identifies, coordinates and manages patient drug screenings (in-house and reference lab), assists with drug screening contracts, and monitors and manages test results through the designated portal.
- Responds to patient inquiries with regard to basic insurance questions.
- Collaborate with providers and other staff to ensure smooth patient flow.
- Efficient scanning of medical records in patient EHR
- Performs other duties as assigned or requested.
Experience
- Minimum of 2 years' experience working as a CMA/LPN preferred
- Pediatric experience preferred.
- Front office experience preferred.
- Computer efficiency, including EHR preferred.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $14.00 - $18.00 per hour
Expected hours: 40 per week
