Duties
- Provide direct patient care during scheduled shifts, ensuring comfort, safety, and dignity for all individuals.
- Administer medications and treatments following established protocols, including medication administration and catheter care.
- Monitor vital signs, record medical documentation accurately using EMR (Electronic Medical Records) and EHR (Electronic Health Records) systems such as Cerner or eClinicalWorks.
- Assist with mobility and transfer techniques utilizing equipment like Hoyer lifts to promote patient independence and prevent injury.
- Support patients with specialized needs including dementia, Alzheimer's, memory care, behavioral health, and working with individuals with disabilities.
- Maintain aseptic techniques during procedures such as phlebotomy and infection control practices in line with HIPAA regulations.
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams in acute care, ICU, emergency medicine, or post-acute settings to deliver comprehensive patient service.
Experience
- Proven experience working in medical settings such as hospitals, nursing homes, assisted living facilities, or outpatient clinics.
- Critical care experience including ICU or Level I Trauma Center environments is highly desirable.
- Familiarity with EMR/EHR systems like Cerner or eClinicalWorks to ensure accurate medical records management.
- Knowledge of medical terminology, physiology, anatomy, and basic life support (BLS) procedures.
- Prior caregiving experience involving geriatrics, pediatrics, home & community care, or behavioral health is preferred.
- Experience with specialized procedures such as catheter care, medication administration, and aseptic techniques.
- Ability to work effectively in fast-paced environments including urgent care or hospital medicine units while maintaining high standards of patient safety and confidentiality.
