ABOUT VIKING HOSPICE CARE

Viking Hospice Care is a Medicare-certified, independently owned hospice agency providing end-of-life care throughout Greater Houston, including Harris, Fort Bend, Montgomery, and Brazoria Counties. We are a small, locally operated team — not affiliated with a national chain — built around individualized, relationship-centered care.

We provide services in private residences, assisted living communities, and skilled nursing facilities, and we are committed to the dignity and comfort of every patient we serve.

POSITION SUMMARY

The Hospice Aide provides personal care and supportive services to hospice patients in their place of residence under the supervision of the Director of Nursing. You will assist patients with activities of daily living, support patient comfort and dignity, and communicate observations to the clinical team in accordance with each patient’s individualized Plan of Care. This is a per diem position. All services are performed in compliance with CMS Conditions of Participation under the supervision of a Registered Nurse.

WHAT YOU’LL DO

  • Assist patients with bathing, grooming, oral hygiene, dressing, and skin care
  • Support ambulation, transfers, and positioning per the patient’s Plan of Care
  • Assist with light meal preparation and feeding as directed
  • Provide companionship and emotional support to patients and families
  • Observe and report changes in patient condition, behavior, or family dynamics to the supervising RN
  • Document all visits in Hospice Tools on the day of each visit
  • Participate in Interdisciplinary Team (IDT) meetings as requested
  • Maintain HIPAA compliance and adhere to infection control standards at all times

COMPENSATION

Complete compensation details will be provided in the independent contractor agreement prior to the first visit.

QUALIFICATIONS

Required

  • Current certification as a Hospice Aide or Certified Nurse Aide (CNA) in the state of Texas
  • Minimum 1 year of experience in a hospice, home health, skilled nursing, or assisted living setting
  • Demonstrated understanding of hospice philosophy and comfort-focused care
  • Ability to work independently in patient homes with minimal supervision
  • Reliable personal vehicle and ability to travel throughout Greater Houston
  • Smartphone capable of running the Hospice Tools mobile app (iOS or Android)

Preferred

  • Prior experience as a Hospice Aide in a Medicare-certified hospice agency
  • Familiarity with Hospice Tools or a comparable hospice EMR
  • Bilingual in English and Spanish
  • Completion of a state-approved Hospice Aide training program
