JOB SUMMARY

General Description

The Certified Nurse Aide is responsible for providing direct patient care within the scope of their practice. The Certified Nurse Aide will function as a secondary caregiver.

Responsibility

No supervisory responsibilities. Assists with assessments, documentation, provides emotional support, and coordinates transfers. Assists RN and provides patient education. Knowledge and/or interest in equipment used on the floor. Adheres to principles of infection control and general policies of the department. Participates in unit PQM projects (Quality Assurance). Attends unit meetings as directed.

Accountability

Reports directly to the Acute Care Services Manager and RN in charge.

Special Demands

Mental: Able to perform effectively in highly stressful situations. Able to interact effectively with a wide variety of people and have good communication skills.

Physical: Long periods of standing, walking, and heavy lifting. Exposure to blood and body fluids,

unpleasant sights, smells and infectious diseases possible.

Qualifications

Education: Current Colorado certification required.

Experience: 1 Year Medical/Surgical experience preferred.

Skills: Knowledge of or interest in learning nursing care essentials. Principles of sterile technique and infection control. Skilled in technical aspects of patient care.

Employment Variables

Full Time position working 36 hours per week 12-hour shifts working 7:00pm to 7:00am. May need to work overtime as need arises.

Salary Range

$18.60 – $22.88 per hour based on experience plus night and weekend shift differential. This is a fulltime benefitted position that includes, paid time off, paid sick time, holiday pay, Health, Dental, and Vision Insurance, life and disability insurance and automatic enrollment in retirement plan with employer match.
