Primary Job Purpose:
While working directly with the Director of Nursing (DON), the CNA Supervisor will be responsible for ensuring the safe and efficient operation of staff that provides person directed care to those we serve at Eben Ezer Lutheran Care Center. This position will be responsible for directly supervising CNA team members (CNA Mentors, CNAs, EAs, SNAs, Meal Assistants) by executing good leadership, mentoring and providing supportive direction. In addition, this position is responsible for scheduling of CNA team members and providing clerical support to the DON and ADON. This position is scheduled 40 hours/week (8 hours on the neighborhood, 32 administrative hours).
Essential Job Functions:

Maintain confidentiality of all work-related information according to HIPAA regulations.

Responsible for recruiting, mentoring, training, counseling, participating in the hiring process, evaluating performance and providing disciplinary direction and performance improvement as needed.
- Serve as a leader within the nursing department by leading by example and exhibiting professionalism while performing duties

Work alongside direct reports to monitor and enhance their skills.

Audits documentation and mentors proper documentation to CNA staff
-
Proficient in and able to perform all CNA duties, including but not limited to:
-
Ensures that CNA staff is engaging Neighbors in meaningful activities each day.
-
Provides for privacy while giving personal care.
-
Provides physical comfort by assisting Neighbors with activities of daily living.
- Gives mental, emotional, and physical support in accordance with care plans.
- Always treats neighbors and team members with dignity and respect.
-
Demonstrates patience, compassion, and respect towards team members, neighbors, and encourages neighbors to be mentally active and as independent as possible.
- Provides meals, snacks and fluids and assists neighbors to eat when needed.

Documents all care personally given as well as periodically or as needed.

Provides preventative skin care/pressure ulcer prevention measures; i.e., turning, repositioning, shifting weight, bridging, special cushions and monitoring.

Performs basic vital sign skills: i.e., Temperature, Pulse, Respirations, and Blood Pressure.

Assists with ambulation or mobility needs using the proper lift and/or gait belt according to established lift policy.
- Oversees and enforces routine cleaning of equipment such as over bed tables, commodes, bed pans, wheelchairs, etc. Keeps work areas neat and clean.

Performs rounds with and reports to on-coming shift.

Maintains awareness of changes in Neighbors’ condition and appropriately reports abnormal changes to the charge nurse.

Complete work schedules for CNA team members - replacing call-ins, processing requested days off, and posting schedules in advance and in compliance with scheduling policy
- Responsible for tracking absenteeism, tardiness and maintaining attendance records.
- Reviews time clock punches, corrects missed punches, monitors overtime and completes reports for payroll deadline.

Performs clerical duties for the nursing department to include typing, filing, record keeping, meeting minutes, posting of notices, assist in team member education preparation, and other duties assigned by the DON/ADON.

Reports to DON issues relating to team members’ tardiness and absenteeism, performance and identifies needs for improvement

Retrieves licensure information regarding pool agency staff & makes the information readily available for the DON or NHA to approve prior to assignment.

Keeps phone list current for nursing staff.

Assures adequate nursing staff for all neighborhoods and all shifts, using agency staff on an as needed basis and with approval from the DON/NHA.
- Works with DON and Human Resources to schedule orientation for new staff.

Is familiar with and has a working knowledge of the personnel policy.

In addition to the responsibilities described above, the role may include other responsibilities and duties as assigned on occasion, based upon Eben Ezer needs or requirements.
Qualifications:
- To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential job function satisfactorily. - Minimum of three years’ experience working in a skilled nursing community.

Experience with supervising others
- Experience in training others is preferred

Experience in NH is preferred

Must be able to read, write, and follow verbal and written instruction.
- Must be able to answer and make calls on the telephone.

Must have extensive computer knowledge (Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, Publisher, etc.)
- Must have good interpersonal skills.
Education and Experience:
-
Graduate of an approved Nurse Aid program and hold a current Colorado CNA license.
- Understands the Eden Alternative Principles and is able to lead others in implementing person-directed care.
Non-Essential Job Functions:

May participate in Eben Ezer committees.

Will attend community meetings and department meetings as instructed.

Will schedule, lead and advertise for all CNA s meetings with the support of DON, NHA and ADON.

Material and Equipment used but not limited to:

Equipment associated with patient care such as lifts, tubs, wheelchairs, geri chairs, gait belts, specialty beds, blood pressure cuff, etc.
- Use of telephone, computer, and nurse call paging system.
Working Environment/Physical Activities:

Must be able to push/pull up to 250 pounds regularly using a wheelchair. Must be able to lift 0-50 pounds regularly by self and 50+ pounds occasionally with assistance.

Frequently walks, stands, bends, lifts, pushes.

Employee will be working in a both a clinical and office environment

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally exposed to wet or humid conditions (non-weather).

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to blood borne pathogens; works near moving mechanical parts.

The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
Working Hours:
As scheduled by the Director of Nursing and may include evenings, nights, weekends, and holidays. This is not a remote position and work must be performed in-person. This position participates in the clinical on call rotation.
