Job Summary
We are seeking a dedicated and energetic Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) specializing in transportation to join our compassionate healthcare team. In this vital role, you will facilitate safe and efficient patient transport within various healthcare settings, ensuring that individuals receive timely and respectful care. Your enthusiasm and attention to detail will help create a positive experience for patients and support seamless operations across departments. This position offers an opportunity to work in diverse environments, including hospitals, long-term care facilities, assisted living communities, and outpatient clinics. Your role is essential in promoting patient safety, comfort, and dignity during transit.

This is a Monday through Friday position; 8am-4:30pm (but can vary at times due to resident appointment/procedure needs). No holidays, no weekends.

Responsibilities

  • Safely transport patients, residents, or clients to and from medical appointments, treatments, or procedures within healthcare facilities or community settings.
  • Assist with patient mobility using appropriate equipment such as Hoyer lifts or wheelchairs, following proper aseptic techniques and safety protocols.
  • Communicate effectively with nursing staff, medical teams, and patients to coordinate transportation needs and ensure smooth transitions.
  • Maintain accurate documentation of transport activities in electronic health records (EHR) systems like PointClickCare.
  • Assist on the floor in between scheduling appointments and taking residents to and from scheduled appointments.
  • Follow infection control procedures and HIPAA regulations to protect patient confidentiality during all transportation activities.
  • Monitor patients’ condition during transit, reporting any changes or concerns promptly to healthcare providers.
  • Ensure all transportation equipment is clean, functional, and ready for use; report any maintenance issues immediately.

Experience
Candidates should possess prior experience working in a long term care facility. Experience with various patient populations—including geriatrics and individuals with developmental disabilities or dementia—is highly valued. Familiarity with EMR/EHR systems like PointClickCare is preferred. Additional desirable skills include:

  • Experience with Microsoft Outlook and scheduling medical appointments
  • Knowledge of basic medical terminology
  • Experience working with individuals with disabilities or behavioral health needs
  • Proficiency in using mobility aids such as Hoyer lifts and wheelchairs while adhering to aseptic techniques
  • Basic life support (BLS) certification and understanding of infection control practices
