CNC Lath Machine Programmer & Operator Job Description
Job Summary
The CNC Programmer & Operator is responsible for producing precision-machined parts by developing, optimizing, and troubleshooting CNC programs, as well as setting up and operating CNC machines (lathes, etc.) according to engineering specifications and quality standards.
Key Responsibilities
Programming:
- Read and interpret technical drawings, blueprints, and 3D design models to determine machining requirements.
- Translate design specifications into machine instructions using Computer-Aided Manufacturing (CAM) software and manual G-code/M-code programming.
- Develop and optimize programs to maximize efficiency, reduce cycle times, and ensure adherence to strict tolerances.
- Simulate and test programs to ensure they produce outputs according to specifications and troubleshoot/resolve programming issues as they arise.
- Document programming changes, setups, and operational procedures for future reference and compliance.
Machine Setup and Operation:
- Prepare and set up machines, including installing and securing correct tooling, fixtures, and materials.
- Determine and adjust machine settings, such as cutting paths, speeds, and feed rates, to optimize production and quality.
- Load raw materials into the machine and monitor the operation during cycles to detect malfunctions or material issues.
- Adjust machine offsets and compensate for tool wear to maintain dimensional accuracy and quality requirements.
Quality Control & Maintenance:
- Inspect and measure finished products using precision measuring instruments (calipers, micrometers, height gauges, etc.) to ensure they meet quality standards and specifications.
- Perform routine daily maintenance and cleaning of the machines, equipment, and work area.
- Troubleshoot basic mechanical and operational problems and report complex issues to the maintenance team.
- Adhere to all safety protocols and company policies to maintain a safe working environment.
Required Skills & Qualifications
Education/Experience:
- High school diploma or equivalent is required; a technical certification or diploma in engineering or machining is highly preferred.
- Proven experience as a CNC Programmer/Operator in a manufacturing environment (e.g., 3-5+ years, depending on the role's complexity).
- Successfully completed an apprenticeship may also be required.
Technical Skills:
- Proficiency in reading and interpreting blueprints, technical drawings, and schematics.
- Strong knowledge of CNC programming languages, including G-code and M-code.
- Experience with CAD/CAM software (e.g., Mastercam, SolidWorks, or equivalent).
- Familiarity with various CNC controllers (e.g., Fanuc, Siemens, Haas) is a plus.
- Strong mathematical skills and mechanical aptitude.

Pay: Rs50,000.00 - Rs60,000.00 per month
