Key Responsibilities

Programming:

  • Read and interpret technical drawings, blueprints, and 3D design models to determine machining requirements.
  • Translate design specifications into machine instructions using Computer-Aided Manufacturing (CAM) software and manual G-code/M-code programming.
  • Develop and optimize programs to maximize efficiency, reduce cycle times, and ensure adherence to strict tolerances.
  • Simulate and test programs to ensure they produce outputs according to specifications and troubleshoot/resolve programming issues as they arise.
  • Document programming changes, setups, and operational procedures for future reference and compliance.

Machine Setup and Operation:

  • Prepare and set up machines, including installing and securing correct tooling, fixtures, and materials.
  • Determine and adjust machine settings, such as cutting paths, speeds, and feed rates, to optimize production and quality.
  • Load raw materials into the machine and monitor the operation during cycles to detect malfunctions or material issues.
  • Adjust machine offsets and compensate for tool wear to maintain dimensional accuracy and quality requirements.

Quality Control & Maintenance:

  • Inspect and measure finished products using precision measuring instruments (calipers, micrometers, height gauges, etc.) to ensure they meet quality standards and specifications.
  • Perform routine daily maintenance and cleaning of the machines, equipment, and work area.
  • Troubleshoot basic mechanical and operational problems and report complex issues to the maintenance team.
  • Adhere to all safety protocols and company policies to maintain a safe working environment.

Required Skills & Qualifications

Education/Experience:

  • High school diploma or equivalent is required; a technical certification or diploma in engineering or machining is highly preferred.
  • Proven experience as a CNC Programmer/Operator in a manufacturing environment (e.g., 3-5+ years, depending on the role's complexity).
  • Successfully completed an apprenticeship may also be required.

Technical Skills:

  • Proficiency in reading and interpreting blueprints, technical drawings, and schematics.
  • Strong knowledge of CNC programming languages, including G-code and M-code.
  • Experience with CAD/CAM software (e.g., Mastercam, SolidWorks, or equivalent).
  • Familiarity with various CNC controllers (e.g., Fanuc, Siemens, Haas) is a plus.
  • Strong mathematical skills and mechanical aptitude.

Soft Skills:

  • Exceptional attention to detail and a commitment to quality.
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical abilities.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively with engineering and production teams.
  • Good communication skills and a results-driven approach
