CNC Machinist

Job Title: CNC Machinist - Milling
Location: Leeds, West Yorkshire
Salary: £42k base + Shift Allowance
Shift: Night Shift role

We are recruiting for a precision engineering company based in Leeds, specialising in the manufacture of high-quality components for industries including aerospace and advanced manufacturing. Due to continued growth, we are looking for skilled and reliable CNC Millers to join our production team.

The Role
As a CNC Milling Machinist, you will be responsible for programming, setting, operating, and maintaining CNC milling machines to produce high-precision components. This role ensures parts are manufactured to strict quality standards while optimising machining strategies, tooling selection, and cycle times

Key Responsibilities

• Set up and operate CNC milling machines, including tooling, fixtures, work holding, probes, and offsets
• Prepare machines for production runs, including loading programs, verifying tool libraries, and confirming setup sheets
• Perform first-off inspections and maintain consistent, high-quality output throughout the run.
• Create, edit, and optimise CNC programs using CAM software (e.g., Solid Cam, Cloud.nc Fusion, etc.) or direct G-code editing
• Adjust toolpaths, speeds, feeds, and machining strategies to improve accuracy and efficiency
• Troubleshoot program-related issues in simultaneous and positional 5-axis machining.
• Select appropriate tooling, holders, and cutting strategies based on component and material requirements
• Monitor tool wear and replace tooling to maintain dimensional accuracy and surface finish.
• Identify opportunities for process improvement, cycle time reduction, and enhanced tool life

Experience / Requirements:

• 3+ years of experience in CNC milling
• Skilled in CAM programming and/or G-code editing
• Ability to read and interpret detailed engineering drawings and GD&T.
• Experience machining materials such as stainless steel, aluminium, titanium, and engineering alloys
• May require standing for long periods and handling materials/tools within defined weight limits.
• Overtime or shift work may be required to meet production deadline
