CNC Machinist (1st Shift) Mill Operator

Summary: 1st shift hours 07:20am - 4:20pm M-TH 7:20am to 1:20pm

Level I Machinist (CNC Machine Operator)

Performs routine operation/monitoring of CNC mills and lathes and inspection of parts produced in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.

Essential Duties:

Maintain <85% efficiency operating Haas CNC Mills and CNC Lathes

Reading Blueprints Monitor and changing cutting tools

Using all standard inspection tools daily

Responsibilities:

· Reads and interprets blueprints and have knowledge of the manufacturing sequences and machining methods required.

Complete understanding of the coordinate system.

· Operate equipment at a rate that equals or exceeds quality and efficiency standards as noted on the traveler.

· Monitor cutting tools in machine spindle and notifies supervisor of tool wear and/or tolerance problems

· Starts machine and monitors display and machine operation to detect malfunction

· Change cutting tool and adjust coolant direction according to required machining sequence or to measure for conformance to blueprint specifications, using precision measuring instruments

· Notifies supervisor of any potential machine or tool problems and malfunctions or out-of-tolerance machining. Cleans machine tools and parts

· Maintains work area in a clean, safe, or lean 5S specification this includes outside of machine and 10 minutes before the end of shift empty chips and check the coolant.

· Communicates with co-workers and supervisors to receive instructions and coordinate activities

· Responsible for proper use, operation, and care of all tools, tooling, and inspection equipment. Must adhere to company policy and procedures.

· Thorough inspection (visual and mechanical) of parts as specified by Inspection Plan and/or Blueprint.

This position may involve access to technology, technical data, or defense articles controlled under U.S. export control laws, including the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR). The selected candidate must be legally authorized to work in the United States and must be eligible to access ITAR-controlled information, which may require qualification as a “U.S. person” as defined by 22 C.F.R. § 120.62 or eligibility for any required U.S. government export authorization.

Qualifications:

  • Knowledge of HAAS mill and lathes.
  • 1 year experience operating a CNC mill/lathe minimum
  • Strong Knowledge of blueprint planning sheets and inspection tools
  • Organizational skills with strong attention to detail
  • Ability to perform in a fast-paced production environment
  • Fluent in English

Education/Experience:

High school diploma or general education degree (GED)

Language Ability:

Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.

Math Ability:

Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.

Reasoning Ability:

Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
