Job Overview
We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated CNC Machinist specializing in Vertical Turret Lathes (VTL) to join our dynamic manufacturing team. In this role, you will operate, set up, and program CNC VTL machines to produce precision components that meet strict quality standards. Duties
- Operate and set up CNC VTL machines, ensuring optimal performance and precision in machining complex parts.
- Develop and modify CNC programs using CAM programming software to improve efficiency and accuracy.
- Interpret technical drawings, blueprints, GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing) specifications, and engineering documents to produce parts that meet exact requirements.
- Conduct precision measurements using calipers, micrometers, bore gauges, coordinate measuring machines (CMM), and other precision instruments to verify dimensions.
- Perform routine maintenance on CNC machinery, troubleshoot issues, and make necessary adjustments to minimize downtime.
- Utilize hand tools, power tools, tooling setups, and welding equipment as needed for part assembly or modifications.
- Follow lean manufacturing principles to optimize workflows, reduce waste, and improve overall productivity.
- Maintain accurate documentation of machine setups, inspection reports, and production logs for quality control purposes.
Qualifications
- Proven experience operating CNC lathe machines, particularly VTLs with Fanuc controls or similar systems.
- Strong knowledge of CNC programming techniques and CAM programming software.
- Proficiency in reading blueprints and technical drawings with GD&T specifications.
- Mechanical aptitude with a solid understanding of machining processes, tooling selection, and fixture setup.
- Familiarity with electrical discharge machining (EDM), plastics injection molding processes, and welding is a plus.
- Ability to use precision measuring instruments such as calipers, micrometers, bore gauges, and coordinate measuring machines accurately.
- Basic math skills for calculating dimensions, tolerances, and machine settings.
- Knowledge of safety procedures related to machining operations and the use of power tools.
- Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to troubleshoot machine issues efficiently.
