CNC machinist - Precision Engineer

Camtec Engineering is a growing and well-established precision engineering company with an enviable reputation, manufacturing high quality components and assemblies across a range of industries.

Due to continued company expansion and increased workload, we are looking for an experienced CNC machinist to join our team. The successful candidate will be capable of working on their own initiative, meeting production deadlines, and maintaining high standards of quality throughout. The role will involve programming, setting, and operating CNC machinery using CAM software while working closely with the wider team.

This is a permanent position offering long-term career prospects within a growing and established company.

Job Role

  • Program, set, and operate CNC machinery (milling machines and lathes)
  • Use manual machines when required
  • Manufacture precision components from start to finish using a wide range of materials
  • Work within a high precision engineering environment to tight tolerances
  • Inspect completed work against engineering drawings and CAD models
  • Support continuous improvement through problem solving and improving efficiency

Relevant Qualifications, Knowledge, Skills & Experience

  • A recognised apprenticeship in machining or mechanical engineering is essential
  • Previous experience in precision machining/toolmaking
  • Competent in the use of CNC and manual machinery
  • Experience with Fanuc controls would be advantageous
  • Experience programming using CAD/CAM software, particularly Edgecam, would be advantageous
  • Ability to read and work from engineering drawings and models
  • Ability to work accurately to tight tolerances
  • Able to manage workload effectively and meet production deadlines while maintaining attention to detail and quality

  • Competitive rates of pay (depending on experience)

  • 40 hour working week
  • 8.00am – 4.30pm Monday to Friday
  • Overtime available (1.5 x hourly rate)
  • 25 days holiday plus bank holiday’s
