CNC Machinist & Rope Technician
A workshop-based role for an experienced CNC machinist who enjoys precise work, bespoke manufacturing, and producing high-quality components for creative outdoor projects.
About Precision Timber
Precision Timber is a family-run business specialising in the design, manufacture, and installation of bespoke playgrounds, outdoor equipment, shelters, and landscaping features.
We create imaginative outdoor spaces for schools, nurseries, parks, visitor attractions, and community settings. Much of our work is bespoke and made to order, so this role would suit someone who enjoys variety, precision, and producing high-quality finished work as part of a creative manufacturing team.
The Role
As a CNC Machinist & Rope Technician, you will play an important role in producing high-quality machined parts and rope play elements within our Rotherham workshop.
This is a varied role combining CNC machining with specialist rope work for bespoke playground projects. You will work from design concepts, technical drawings, and project specifications to machine components accurately in materials including timber, HDPE, and recycled sheet plastic. You will also support the creation, repair, and finishing of rope elements used in our playground products, from individual rope repairs through to larger bespoke features such as rope bridges.
This role is ideal for someone with proven CNC machining experience who enjoys practical workshop work, technical accuracy, and learning specialist manufacturing skills. Experience in rope work is helpful but not essential, as training will be provided. You will work closely with our experienced CNC and rope engineer, with the opportunity to build your skills in both areas.
