CNC Mill Set Up Machinist

Elwood has an opportunity for an individual with machining skills and demonstrated CNC mill experience.


Candidates are expected to set up and run Mazak CNC vertical mills.


    • Required: High school diploma or equivalent, with 4-6 years of experience in relevant role
  • Understanding of CNC mill operations and familiarity with Mazatrol programming
  • Be able to perform tool offsets without supervision and assist with machine setup/tool changeovers
  • Must be able to read blueprints, use precision measuring tools, and handle raw materials
  • Math competency includes but is not limited to addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, geometry, trigonometry and algebra
  • Ability to use precision measuring instruments including but not limited to micrometers, ID and OD micrometers, height stands, depth gages, thread gages, and calipers
  • Mechanical aptitude and problem-solving skills
    Manual dexterity: Has ability to sit, stand, kneel, squat, and bend/twist at waist as required to perform essential job functions
  • Computer skills: familiarity with offline CNC programming software, experience with Microsoft Excel

Elwood has an opportunity for an individual with machining skills and demonstrated CNC mill experience. Candidates are expected to set up and run Mazak CNC vertical mills.


  • Set up and operate Mazak CNC mills following setup sheets and a machine schedule.
  • Ability to identify/install tooling, select programs, and run/perform offsets.
  • Perform tool/machine changeovers, assist with light equipment maintenance as needed.
  • Load raw materials, unload finished products and maintain job/product traceability.
  • Record finished product dimensions utilizing calibrated measuring equipment.
  • Perform inspections to maintain quality standards.
  • Troubleshoot machine issues and ensure smooth operation.

Maintain a clean, organized work environment and adheres to all safety standards, procedures, and regulations ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

  • Collaborate with team members to meet deadlines are met and contribute to continuous improvement.
