CNC Setup Operator / Machinist

Schedule: Flexible 4-Day (10hr) or 4.5-Day (9hr + Half-Day Friday)

Pay: $35.00 per hour- minimum three years experience.

If you have more than five years of experience, we are willing to offer more per hour.

The Opportunity

We are a specialized, independent machine shop in Alliance seeking a skilled CNC Setup Operator with a high degree of technical autonomy. This is a low-volume, high-variety production environment. You will work directly with the owner to manage complex jobs, primarily involving castings and precision components.

Key Responsibilities

• Setup & Operation: Perform full setups and operations on CNC Lathes and Horizontal Machining Centers (HMCs).
• G-code: Programs are provided, but you must be able to read, verify, and make minor edits to G-code (checking tool offsets, coordinates, and program flow) prior to cycle start.
• Quality & Precision: Take full ownership of your output. You must be able to use micrometers, calipers, and bore gauges to maintain tolerances.
• Troubleshooting: Collaborate directly with the owner to optimize tool paths, troubleshoot mechanical issues, and refine shop processes.
• Shop Stewardship: Maintain a clean workspace and assist with basic equipment maintenance (e.g., checking fluid levels, clearing chips).

Requirements

• Experience: Minimum of 3 years of professional experience in a CNC setup and operation role.
• Technical Skill: Proven ability to handle CNC setups and work with castings.
• Physicality: Comfortable lifting 35 lbs and working in a traditional, non-climate-controlled shop environment.
