About the Role

Azimuth Technology is seeking a highly skilled CNC Programmer III with advanced hands-on experience in mill-turn and Swiss-style CNC machining, specifically with Miyano multi-tasking lathes and Tsugami Swiss-type CNC machines.

This is a senior-level hands-on technical contributor role, not a management position. The CNC Programmer III will work directly with machines, setups, tooling, programs, and shop-floor personnel to improve process performance, support production, troubleshoot complex machining issues, and develop repeatable manufacturing processes.

The ideal candidate is an experienced CNC professional who can independently program, prove out, optimize, and support complex jobs in a high-precision production environment. This person must be comfortable working on the shop floor, mentoring setup technicians and machinists, and helping improve quality, cycle time, machine utilization, and overall manufacturing execution.

This role is ideal for someone who leads through technical skill, hands-on execution, problem-solving, and mentorship — not through formal supervisory authority.

Key Responsibilities

  • Program, optimize, and troubleshoot CNC mill-turn and Swiss machining centers.
  • Support Miyano multi-tasking lathes and Tsugami Swiss-type CNC machines.
  • Develop efficient machining strategies for complex precision components.
  • Create, prove out, and optimize CNC programs for production stability, quality, and repeatability.
  • Support machine setups, first-piece development, production launches, and process troubleshooting.
  • Improve cycle times, tooling strategies, tool life, and machine utilization.
  • Create and maintain setup sheets, tool lists, process notes, and standard work instructions.
  • Troubleshoot machining issues related to tooling, offsets, chatter, surface finish, dimensional variation, and machine performance.
  • Work with Quality to resolve dimensional issues, nonconformances, and process-related concerns.
  • Mentor setup technicians, machinists, and operators through hands-on technical guidance.
  • Collaborate with Manufacturing, Production, Quality, Engineering, and Product Management.
  • Support continuous improvement, lean manufacturing, and process optimization initiatives.
