Position Summary
The CNC Programmer & Setup Technician is responsible for programming, setting up, and optimizing CNC machines to produce precision parts that meet quality and production standards. This role works closely with engineering, production, and quality teams to ensure efficient operations, minimal downtime, and continuous improvement in machining processes.
Key Responsibilities
- Interpret blueprints, technical drawings, and specifications to determine machining requirements
- Set up CNC machines, including tooling selection, fixture setup, and machine calibration
- Perform first-piece inspections and make necessary program or setup adjustments
- Optimize machining processes for efficiency, quality, and cost-effectiveness
- Troubleshoot machining issues, program errors, and equipment malfunctions
- Collaborate with engineers and machinists to improve processes and resolve technical issues
- Maintain accurate documentation for programs, setups, and revisions
- Ensure compliance with safety standards and company policies
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent required; technical certification or associate degree in machining or manufacturing preferred
- 3+ years of CNC programming and setup experience
- Experience with SolidWorks & SolidCam a plus
- Experience with Tsugami, Haas and Okuma machines
- Attention to detail – Quality and organization are of the utmost importance.
- Ability to work well in a fast-paced environment with times of high stress and volume
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints
- Experience with precision measuring tools (calipers, micrometers, gauges)
- Solid understanding of machining processes, tooling, and materials
- Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail
