Job Summary
We are seeking a dynamic and detail-oriented CNC Set Up Operator to join our manufacturing team. In this role, you will be responsible for preparing and programming CNC (Computer Numerical Control) machines to produce high-precision components efficiently and accurately. Your expertise will ensure smooth machine operation, optimal tooling setups, and adherence to quality standards. Duties
- Set up CNC milling machines and CNC lathes, ensuring proper installation of tooling, fixtures, and workpieces according to specifications.
- Program CNC machines using CAM (Computer-Aided Manufacturing) software and interpret blueprints, GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing), and technical drawings for precise machining.
- Operate CNC equipment such as Fanuc controls, ensuring accurate execution of programmed instructions while monitoring machine performance during production runs.
- Perform precision measurements using calipers, micrometers, bore gauges, coordinate measuring machines (CMM), and other precision instruments to verify part dimensions.
- Adjust machine parameters or tooling as needed to maintain quality standards and optimize cycle times.
- Conduct routine maintenance on CNC machinery and troubleshoot issues related to electrical discharge machining, tooling wear, or mechanical malfunctions.
- Support continuous improvement initiatives through lean manufacturing principles and maintain a clean, organized work environment using hand tools, power tools, and proper safety procedures.
Requirements
- Proven experience operating CNC milling machines and CNC lathes with familiarity in Fanuc or similar control systems.
- Ability to interpret technical drawings and specifications accurately.
- Mechanical aptitude with understanding of tooling setup, electrical discharge machining (EDM), plastics injection molding processes, welding, and assembly techniques.
- Proficiency in using precision measuring instruments such as calipers, micrometers, bore gauges, and coordinate measuring machines (CMM).
- Basic math skills including measurement conversions and calculations relevant to machining tolerances.
- Familiarity with hand tools, power tools, tooling management, forklift operation, and safety protocols in a manufacturing environment.
- Knowledge of lean manufacturing practices to promote efficiency and waste reduction.
