Job Summary
We are looking for a motivated and experienced CNC Setter / Operator to join our machining department. The successful candidate will be responsible for setting and operating CNC machinery safely and efficiently while ensuring production output meets quality and delivery requirements.
The role will support continuous improvement activities, maintain machining standards, and contribute towards achieving departmental KPIs relating to quality, efficiency, and downtime reduction.
Key Responsibilities
- Set and operate CNC machinery in line with production requirements, this will require multiple set ups on small batch production runs.
- Read and interpret engineering drawings and technical specifications
- Select and install tooling, fixtures, and machine offsets
- Carry out first-off inspections and in-process quality checks
- Ensure components are manufactured to the required tolerances and quality standards
- Monitor machine performance and identify process improvements
- Support reduction of scrap, rework, and downtime
- Maintain safe working practices and housekeeping standards
- Accurately complete production and quality documentation
- Work collaboratively with programmers, supervisors, and production teams
- Support continuous improvement initiatives within the machining department
Skills & Experience Required
Essential
- Previous experience setting and operating CNC machinery
- Ability to read engineering drawings
- Understanding of machining processes and tooling
- Experience using measuring equipment and quality inspection tools
- Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills
- Good understanding of health & safety within manufacturing
Desirable
- CNC programming knowledge
- Experience with Fanuc
- Apprenticeship or engineering qualification
- Experience within precision engineering or manufacturing environment

Pay: £17.52-£19.47 per hour
