As part of our continued growth and expansion into new business areas, we are looking to recruit a skilled and motivated CNC Setter / Operator to join our versatile and forward-thinking team.
This position will play a key role in supporting production activities, driving continuous improvement initiatives, and contributing to lean manufacturing objectives across the business.
Key Responsibilities
- Set and operate CNC machinery to manufacture components to specification and drawing requirements
- Read and interpret engineering drawings and technical specifications, ensuring components are produced to precise tolerances
- Carry out routine machine maintenance and basic troubleshooting to maintain optimal machine performance
- Assist in the investigation and implementation of process and production improvements
- Support lean manufacturing and continuous improvement initiatives across the department
- Train and mentor team members to encourage continuous development and best practice
- Work collaboratively with Senior Engineers and production teams to achieve production targets and quality objectives
- Maintain high housekeeping standards and ensure compliance with all health & safety procedures
- Work in accordance with the company’s Quality Management System compliant with ISO 9001:2015
Essential Criteria
- Minimum 2 years’ experience setting tooling and jigs across a range of CNC machinery
- Strong understanding of manufacturing processes and machining procedures
- Good mechanical knowledge with previous experience working within an engineering or manufacturing environment
- Ability to develop and optimise manufacturing processes to improve efficiency and product quality
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to work collaboratively across departments
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment while managing multiple priorities
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills
- Strong hands-on mechanical aptitude and practical engineering ability
Desirable Skills & Experience
- Minimum 2 years’ experience programming CNC machines with Fanuc controls for both vertical milling and turning operations
- Experience overseeing production scheduling and process control within a CNC department
- Experience supporting sales teams with cost estimation and technical input for new projects, including customer interaction
- CAD/CAM proficiency, ideally with experience using Creo and/or Fusion 360
Rate depending on skillset and experience. Higher rate candidates will have desirable skills as well as all essential criteria.
