Position Overview

As a CNC Machinist, your primary responsibility will be setting up and running our 4-Axis CNC mill and CNC Lathe to produce high-precision components. You will also support the shop across a variety of tasks including laser marking, inspection, deburring, packing, and shipping. This role is ideal for an experienced machinist who thrives in a small shop environment and can be trusted to manage day-to-day production with minimal supervision.

What You’ll Do

  • Set up and operate CNC machines (4-axis CNC Mill, CNC Lathe) to manufacture components per engineering drawings and models
  • Prove out program, prepare tooling assemblies, change fixtures and workholding, probe and align setups
  • Monitor and tend to machines, load and unload workpieces, change and adjust tooling, and solve problems as they arise
  • Read and interpret drawings and CAD models
  • Plan and perform first-article and in-process inspections to ensure conformance to part specifications using precision measuring tools
  • Document setup and inspection instructions
  • Keep work area organized and clean
  • Troubleshoot machine issues and perform basic machine maintenance
  • Communicate proactively about job status, tooling needs, and any issues
  • Take on additional tasks as they come up — flexibility is essential in a small shop
  • Perform secondary operations on parts such as deburring, cleaning, laser marking
  • Pack and prepare finished goods for shipment
  • Follow all applicable safety regulations

What We’re Looking For

  • 5+ years CNC machining experience
  • Setup machinist experience
  • Experience with CNC mills and CNC Lathes (Multi-Axis / Wire-EDM / Grinding experience are a plus)
  • Familiarity with CNC controls such as Brother/Siemens/Fanuc
  • Familiarity with GD&T (ASME and ISO) as well as inspection tools and techniques
  • Experience machining a variety of materials notably: stainless steels, aluminums, and plastics
  • Experience machining tight tolerances under 10µm / 0.0004”
  • Solid problem-solving skills and keen attention to detail
  • Ability to work independently and take ownership of production tasks
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds
  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Able to read, write, and speak English
  • Work authorization

Nice to Have

  • CAM programming experience using NX CAM/Mastercam/Esprit/Fusion or similar
  • 3D CAD experience using NX/Solidworks/Inventor/Fusion or similar
  • Background in a contract or job-shop environment
