CNC Turner Setter/Operator

Job Overview
We are seeking a skilled CNC Turner Setter/Operator to join our manufacturing team. The successful candidate will be responsible for setting up and operating CNC turning machines to produce high-precision components. This role offers an excellent opportunity for individuals with a strong mechanical background and experience working with various manufacturing processes. The ideal applicant will be detail-oriented, safety-conscious, and capable of working efficiently within a fast-paced environment.

Duties

  • Set up CNC turning machines, ensuring correct tooling and parameters are in place for each job - XYZ ProtoTrak and Siemens machines
  • Operate CNC lathes to produce components according to technical drawings and specifications
  • Perform routine inspections of machined parts to ensure quality standards are met
  • Adjust machine settings as necessary to maintain accuracy and efficiency during production runs
  • Conduct basic maintenance and troubleshooting on CNC equipment
  • Use hand tools and power tools for tooling changes, adjustments, and minor repairs
  • Read and interpret CAD drawings, SolidWorks files, and technical documentation
  • Assist with other related manufacturing tasks as required
  • Maintain a clean and organised work area in compliance with safety regulations

Requirements

  • Proven experience operating CNC turning centres or similar machinery
  • Strong mechanical knowledge with familiarity in tooling, fixtures, and machine calibration
  • Proficiency in reading CAD files, SolidWorks models, and technical drawings
  • Ability to use hand tools, power tools, and other basic workshop equipment effectively
  • Good understanding of basic maths for measurements and calculations during setup and production
  • Experience working with tooling adjustments and machine calibration to achieve precise tolerances
  • Familiarity with assembly processes involving various materials including plastics
  • Strong organisational skills with attention to detail and safety protocols
  • Ability to work independently or as part of a team in a fast-paced environment
