The CO₂ Welder is responsible for joining and fabricating metal components using CO₂ (carbon dioxide) gas-shielded welding techniques. This role ensures high-quality, precise welds while adhering to safety standards and production requirements.
Key Responsibilities
- Operate CO₂ welding machines and equipment to weld steel and other metals
- Read and interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, and welding specifications
- Prepare metal surfaces for welding, including cleaning, grinding, and aligning components
- Monitor welding parameters, including voltage, amperage, and gas flow, for consistent quality
- Inspect completed welds for quality, strength, and compliance with specifications
- Perform routine maintenance on welding equipment and report any issues
- Maintain a clean and organized work area
- Follow all safety procedures and wear appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE)
- Collaborate with team members and supervisors to meet production deadlines
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent required
- Previous experience as a CO₂/MIG welder preferred
- Welding certification (e.g., AWS, ISO) is a plus
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and specifications

Physical Requirements
- Ability to stand, bend, and work in various positions for extended periods
- Lift and handle metal components and welding equipment up to 50 lbs
- Tolerance for heat, sparks, fumes, and noisy environments
Work Environment
- Manufacturing or fabrication shop
- Exposure to welding fumes, sparks, heat, and machinery
