JOB TITLE: COA VAN DRIVER DEPARTMENT: COUNCIL ON AGING EMPLOYMENT TYPE:

is seeking a qualified individual to fill the position of Van Driver for
the Council on Aging. The successful candidate will have excellent
Interpersonal Skills, Be Confident In Their Driving Abilities, And
overall demonstrates a good rapport with the elderly community. We are

Service. RESPONSIBILITIES - Operates Vehicle From Senior Center To
client homes and transports to various destinations according to the
assigned schedule - Destinations may include: medical/dental, meal site,
social day care, food shopping, public assistance - Assists disabled
passengers into and out of the vehicle an secures passenger\'s
wheelchairs in order to stabilize them during transit - Adhere to the
driving/bus policy (including seat belt safety) as determined by
supervisor and COA Director - Keep daily records of mileage and gasoline
use to be submitted to supervisor and BRTA weekly - Perform routine
checks on the vehicle (including but not limited to: tires, gas, oil,
battery water, directional signals, seat belts): performs preventative
maintenance - Report deficiencies/problems with the vehicle to
supervisor as soon as possible - Maintain the cleanliness of the vehicle
at all times. - Collect fares/ticket/vouchers (as applicable) and turn
fares into supervisor daily - Observe changes in habits of passengers;
report changes to supervisor - Receive, prioritize, and respond to
dispatch calls to coordinate transportation schedules efficiently -
Return phone calls from clients, caregivers, and staff regarding ride
requests, schedule changes, or general inquiries - Other related duties
as assigned QUALIFICATIONS - Valid Massachusetts driver\'s license and
maintain a valid DOT Certificate - Courteous and sensitive to the needs
of elders - Knowledge of streets/roads/community/facilities - Ability to
understand and follow oral instruction - Ability to establish and
maintain effective working relationships with peers and supervisors -
Must attend and pass all BRTA required trainings included but not
limited to - Accessible Lift Use and Passenger Securement - Disability
Awareness - Defensive Driving - Ability to perform duties with
(some/little) latitude for individual judgment - Must submit a copy of
Registry report showing a clean driving record - Must complete CPR
training and other training as needed HOURS Monday - Friday, 37.5 hours
a week 8:00am-4:00pm SALARY Starting rate \$19.18 - \$20.35 an hour
Annual increases up to \$25.02 an hour
