COASTAL PROGRAM ANALYST II

Are you interested in a role that provides the opportunity to help shape development along the Bay shoreline, explore how to expand public access and encourage the development of new shoreline public access facilities? As a Shoreline Development Analyst, you will analyze and provide recommendations to the Executive Director and the Commission on proposals involving a wide range of development types, including:
  • Mixed-use residential and commercial developments
  • Shoreline parks and open spaces
  • San Francisco Bay Trail extensions and improvements
  • Commercial recreation facilities, including marinas
  • Marine industrial facilities
  • Transportation facilities
  • Seaport and airport development
  • Restoration and resource protection efforts

You will also assess the resiliency of proposed shoreline development to future flooding from sea level rise and help permit applicants ensure that their project can adapt to rising tides.

This position is a 12-month limited term assignment with the possibility of becoming permanent.

Working Conditions

  • Work in a stationary position (such as sitting or standing) in an office for long periods of time using a keyboard and video display terminal.
  • In-state travel as needed.
  • Interact by phone, chat, email, and in person with other state agencies/department financial services units along with all BCDC staff.
  • Required to complete all required training and information as requested including but not limited to Ethics, Sexual Harassment, Form 700, and Nepotism.
  • Position may require overtime to meet organizational needs.
  • Work in a multi-story office building in downtown San Francisco, Monday through Friday 0800-1700 (normal working hours). Flexible hours and telework may be considered in compliance with BCDC Telework Policy.

Department Information

The Enforcement & Compliance Teams are highly collaborative and work closely with design, permitting, engineering, legal, and planning staff to assess applications, interpret and apply policies, and review permit conditions to ensure that projects protect and enhance the Bay’s resources and provide high-quality public access opportunities.

Team members work directly with members of the public and other agencies to communicate BCDC’s policies and permitting requirements. Projects range from smaller-scale residential, commercial, and industrial projects; to public parks and trail systems; and to large multi-faceted mixed-use projects.
