Duties

• Review and assign appropriate CPT (Current Procedural Terminology), ICD-9, and ICD-10 codes to medical records based on documentation.
• Ensure accurate coding of diagnoses and procedures using EMR (Electronic Medical Records) and EHR (Electronic Health Records) systems.
• Prepare and submit clean claims for insurance reimbursement while verifying patient information and insurance details.
• Follow up on unpaid claims, process medical collections, and resolve billing discrepancies promptly.
• Maintain comprehensive medical records, ensuring all documentation aligns with coding standards and regulatory requirements.
• Collaborate with healthcare providers to clarify documentation or coding issues for accurate billing.
• Stay current with updates in medical coding guidelines, insurance policies, and healthcare regulations to ensure ongoing compliance.

Experience

• Proven experience in medical billing and coding within a healthcare setting.
• Familiarity with CPT coding, ICD-9, ICD-10, and ICD coding systems is essential.
• Strong knowledge of medical terminology, medical records management, and healthcare documentation standards.
• Experience working with EMR/EHR systems and medical office software is highly preferred.
• Excellent attention to detail with the ability to interpret complex medical documentation accurately.
