Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Physician to support our outpatient Psychiatric Services team. The Collaborative Physician will enter into an SCA with designated APRNs at Lee Side Wellness, providing clinical collaboration and oversight in accordance with the Ohio Revised Code (ORC) and Ohio Administrative Code (OAC). This is a 1099 independent contractor role and does not require direct patient care or in-person supervision. However, collaborating physicians are also able to provide care through our practice should they choose.
Collaborative Physicians are compensated per month per APRN supported through collaborative arrangements with up to five collaborative arrangements.
Responsibilities
- Serve as the collaborating physician for one or more certified nurse practitioners in accordance with Ohio law.
- Be available by telecommunications for consultation on patient care during working hours.
- Participate in chart reviews (random selection of patient records) annually and semi-annually to ensure compliance with prescribing practices, particularly around Schedule II medications.
- Provide guidance and consultation to APRNs in cases including:
- Patient conditions outside the APRN’s scope or experience
- Requests by patients or families for physician involvement
- State-reportable incidents
- Challenging or non-responsive clinical cases
- Review and support prescribing practices, including off-label use and new FDA-approved medications, in accordance with clinical best practices and the Ohio Formulary.
- Ensure timely and appropriate referrals when care needs exceed the APRN’s scope.
- Participate in quality assurance activities and be available to resolve clinical disagreements, utilizing consultation, peer review, and current literature as needed.
- Designate a covering physician in the event of your absence to maintain continuity of the collaborative agreement.
Qualifications
- Licensed MD or DO in the State of Ohio in good standing.
- Experience in Psychiatry or Primary Care (Psychiatric experience preferred).
- Familiarity with Ohio Board of Nursing rules and regulations regarding APRN collaboration and prescriptive authority.
- Strong communication skills and willingness to support APRNs through remote consultation.
- Prior experience with collaborative agreements or APRN supervision is preferred, but not required.
Contract Type

- Compensation is negotiated separately and provided through monthly invoicing
