York Technical College, a member of the South Carolina Technical and Comprehensive Education System, is a public, two-year institution of higher education that offers a variety of associate degrees, diplomas, and certificates. The Collections and Electronic Resources Librarian performs the following functions:
Collections Strategy and Management - Lead the development and lifecycle management of the Library’s collections, including acquisitions, assessment, cataloging, and deaccessioning. Analyze collection data and usage trends to inform strategic decisions for physical and electronic resources. Ensure collections support institutional accreditation requirements, academic programs, and emerging instructional needs.
Electronic Resources and Access Management - Oversee access to and discoverability of electronic resources, including open access and subscription content. Manage selection, activation, assessment, and renewal processes to ensure cost-effective and reliable access. Serve as the primary liaison to vendors and service providers. Collaborate with PASCAL and the campus IT department to support authentication systems (e.g., OpenAthens) and ensure seamless user access. Provide guidance and support for resolving access and technology-related issues.
Library Systems and Discovery Optimization - Manage and enhance metadata and system configurations to support effective resource discovery and access. Maintain and optimize library platforms, including Ex Libris Alma and Primo VE/NDE. Administer integrations with external systems (e.g., OpenAthens, OCLC WorldShare). Continuously evaluate and implement improvements to enhance usability, discoverability, and overall user experience. Ensure electronic resources meet accessibility standards in alignment with College and WCAG guidelines.
Outreach, Collaboration, and Service - Develop and maintain policies and procedures related to metadata, discovery, and access. Represent the Library in consortial and professional partnerships, including PASCAL. Contribute to outreach initiatives and student engagement activities that promote library services. Provide service desk and virtual reference support as needed. Participate in college committees and engage in ongoing professional development.
