Statement of Primary Purpose
Provide leadership for the College’s College and Career Readiness programs
Anticipated Start: June 1, 2026
Classification
Full-time Exempt Staff, Program Administrator
Essential Functions and Responsibilities
Lead and manage educational opportunities programs including:
- English Language Acquisition
- Human Resources Development
- Adult Basic Education and Crossover
Additional Duties and Responsibilities
- Manage programs including maintaining records and contracts, administering budgets, recruiting and supervising instructors, developing schedules, promoting programs, and submitting federal and state reports.
- Coordinate the writing and submission of state basic skills/literacy funding grant applications and continuation reports.
- Oversee departmental monthly payroll.
- Submit annual program monitoring materials and lead program staff in compliance reviews.
- Collaborate with college and community partners to develop integrated education and training opportunities for students to support local workforce needs.
- Teach at least one class or student orientation each semester.
- Provide academic advising for college and career readiness students.
- Supervise program coordinators and staff.
- Coordinate staff development activities.
- Oversee high school equivalency testing and serve as backup test administrator.
- Develop additional resources for college and career readiness programs including researching, writing, and managing supplemental grants and establishing community partnerships.
- Facilitate collaboration and communication among college and career readiness programs.
- Integrate academic support services including labs, testing, and individual assistance/tutoring with instructional offerings.
- Promote student recruitment, retention, and completion in college and career readiness programs.
- Promote student progression from college and career readiness to college-credit programs.
- Collaborate with public relations staff to develop marketing materials and maintain web pages for college and career readiness programs.
- Supervise curriculum development and periodic updates.
- Ensure appropriate resources for program and course delivery.
- Establish and maintain effective working relationships with students, staff, community college system personnel, workforce development leaders, and community partners
Minimum Qualifications
Education
Master’s degree required. Coursework in adult education, higher education, developmental education or related field preferred.
Knowledge and Skills
Required: Understanding of the role of college and career readiness programs in the community college mission. Report writing and academic outcomes data analysis skills.
Preferred: Experience with performance based program accountability and/or federal program compliance. Management experience in an educational setting. Community college experience.
Licensing Requirement
Valid NC Driver’s License.
Working Conditions and Environment
Travel throughout the college service area. Attend regional and state meetings including occasional overnight travel. Supervise day, evening, and online classes.
