Commercial and Architectural Roofing Estimator - Chicago

Position Overview

We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Commercial & Architectural Roofing Estimator to support our operations in the Chicago market. This remote position is responsible for preparing accurate cost estimates for commercial and architectural roofing projects, reviewing plans and specifications, and collaborating with the sales and operations teams to ensure successful project bidding and execution.

The ideal candidate has strong experience with commercial roofing systems, architectural roofing assemblies, and the ability to analyze drawings, specifications, and field conditions to produce competitive and accurate bids.

Key Responsibilities

• Perform site visits along side sales rep as needed
• Prepare detailed cost estimates and proposals for commercial and architectural roofing projects.
• Review project drawings, specifications, and bid documents to determine scope and requirements.
• Perform material takeoffs and quantity calculations using estimating software and construction plans.
• Perform cost estimates and site visits with sales representatives as needed to assess project conditions and support bid development.
• Communicate with vendors and suppliers to obtain accurate material pricing and availability.
• Coordinate with the sales, project management, and operations teams to clarify scope and ensure complete bids.
• Analyze labor, material, equipment, and subcontractor costs to produce competitive estimates.
• Identify project risks, scope gaps, and potential value engineering opportunities.
• Maintain organized records of estimates, proposals, and bid documentation.
• Participate in pre-bid meetings and provide technical support during the bidding process.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of experience in commercial roofing estimating or related construction estimating.
• Strong knowledge of commercial and architectural roofing systems (TPO, EPDM, PVC, modified bitumen, metal, architectural systems, etc.).
• Ability to read and interpret construction drawings, blueprints, and specifications.
• Experience with estimating and takeoff software (such as Edge, Planswift, Bluebeam, or similar tools).
• Strong analytical, mathematical, and problem-solving skills.
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
• Ability to manage multiple bids and deadlines simultaneously.
• Valid driver's license and ability to travel to St. Louis area job sites when needed.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience estimating large-scale commercial roofing or architectural roofing projects.
• Familiarity with manufacturer specifications and roofing system assemblies.
• Experience working with general contractors and commercial bid platforms.
