Position Overview

Tashkeel is seeking an experienced and commercially minded Commercial Ceramics Design & Production Lead to lead its growing ceramics department.

This role is responsible for developing and delivering bespoke ceramic projects for hospitality, restaurants, hotels, corporate clients, artists, designers, architects, government entities, and private collectors. The successful candidate will oversee projects from concept development and prototyping through to production, quality control, delivery, and installation.

The ideal candidate will have a strong background in commercial ceramic production, hospitality tableware, architectural ceramics, ceramic manufacturing, or large-scale ceramic fabrication. Experience managing production teams and delivering both bespoke and batch-manufactured orders is essential.

The role will manage a team of approximately four ceramic technicians and makers while helping establish Tashkeel as a leading destination for ceramic production, artist fabrication, hospitality collections, VIP gifting, product development, furniture applications, and public art projects.

Key Responsibilities Commercial Production

  • Lead and manage all commercial ceramic projects.
  • Develop bespoke ceramic collections for hospitality, retail, corporate, and private clients.
  • Produce tableware, decorative objects, architectural ceramics, lighting components, and custom ceramic products.
  • Develop ceramic-based corporate and VIP gifting collections.
  • Prepare production plans, timelines, and quality control systems.
  • Support business development opportunities and client presentations.

Product Design & Furniture Applications

  • Work closely with the Tasmeem Tashkeel design team on ceramic-based product and furniture collections.
  • Develop ceramic applications for furniture, interiors, lighting, architectural surfaces, and bespoke design commissions.
  • Prototype and manufacture ceramic components for commercial production.

Artist Fabrication & Public Art

  • Support artists and designers in the fabrication of ceramic sculptures, installations, and public artworks.
  • Develop technical solutions for large-scale ceramic projects.
  • Assist with mold-making, production planning, firing strategies, and installation preparation.

Manufacturing & Technical Expertise

The successful candidate must have strong experience in:

  • Mold-making and multi-part molds
  • Slip casting
  • Production ceramics
  • Glaze development
  • Kiln operation and firing schedules
  • Clay 3D printing
  • Digital modelling and prototyping
  • 3D printed molds and tooling
  • CNC-assisted mold production
  • Batch manufacturing systems and quality control

Team & Studio Management

  • Lead and mentor a team of approximately four ceramic technicians and makers.
  • Manage production schedules, workflows, and project delivery.
  • Maintain studio equipment, materials, and production standards.
  • Ensure compliance with health and safety procedures.

Candidate Profile

The ideal candidate will have:

  • Minimum 7 years of professional ceramic production experience.
  • Experience within commercial ceramic studios, manufacturers, hospitality tableware production, architectural ceramics, or ceramic fabrication environments.
  • Strong understanding of scalable manufacturing and production systems.
  • Experience working with artists, designers, architects, and hospitality clients.
  • Excellent project management and team leadership skills.
  • Strong commercial awareness and client-facing experience.

Qualifications

  • Degree or equivalent professional experience in Ceramics, Ceramic Design, Product Design, Industrial Design, Sculpture, or a related discipline.
  • Additional experience in digital fabrication, mold-making, or manufacturing is highly desirable.

Profit Share & Performance Bonus

This role includes a competitive base salary together with a profit-sharing incentive structure.

Once departmental costs, materials, salaries, and operational expenses have been covered, 10% of the department's annual net profit will be allocated to a profit-sharing pool and distributed amongst the ceramics team based on contribution, project leadership, technical expertise, quality, efficiency, and overall departmental performance.
