Our Commercial Collateral Analyst is responsible for the day-to-day servicing, monitoring, and administration of commercial construction loans and collateral portfolios. This position ensures accurate and timely monitoring and processing of construction draws, proper collateral oversight, and compliance with internal policies and regulatory requirements.

Essential Duties:

  • Reviews draw requests submitted to the Bank for errors and potential issues.
  • Inputs data into excel spreadsheet or construction loan tracking software and monitors information to ensure that draw requests are within the approved budget, the progression of a development’s improvement and the compliance with covenants (sales pace, timing of completion, etc.).
  • Obtains additional information (mechanic lien waivers, copies of bought-out contracts, copies of invoices, title bring-downs, etc.) as required and as they relate to a specific project from the Borrower, Contractor, Title Agent, etc.
  • Orders and reviews inspection reports.
  • Interacts with Borrower/Lender/Lender’s Administrator relating to specific questions (change orders, budget modifications, etc.) and the funding of draw requests.
  • Handle modification of existing templates for new construction loans to meet the needs of a specific project.
  • Manages the appraisal review process for certain commercial loans illustrated by the following:
  • Coordinate the review of appraisals to ensure compliance with bank policy, regulatory standards, and sound valuation practices.
  • Assist with the managing of the approved appraisal panel for each region, including onboarding, monitoring performance, and maintaining required documentation.
  • Develops or assists with development of procedure designed to ensure that the quality of appraisals is reviewed for accurate and correct information and inform lenders, appraisal reviewers, and others if reviews of appraisals are incorrect or are missing information.
  • Follows established procedures and controls to ensure independence in the development, administration, and maintenance of the list of approved appraisers.
  • Track and evaluate appraisal quality and timeliness, providing feedback and reporting trends to management.
  • Manage and track periodic inspections of collateral and ensure timely payments by the dealer to the bank when inventory is sold.
  • Manage and track periodic inspections of collateral securing commercial loans, including dealer floor plan inventory.
  • Ensure timely repayment or curtailment of loans when collateral is sold.
  • Oversee inspection results, identify discrepancies or red flags, and coordinate appropriate follow-up actions.
  • Review floor-plan agreements and borrowers’ compliance with the agreements
  • Maintain proper file documentation which may include periodic analysis of creditworthiness and performance of the relationship, floor-plan agreements, hazard insurance, collateral valuations, invoices for new units, inspections, and financing statements (and related searches) filed with the applicable state agency.

Requirements:

Education/Training: A Bachelor’s Degree in a related field of study preferred; specialized construction lending and credit analysis education/training.

Skill(s): Must demonstrate strong communication skills; proficient interpersonal relations; proficient PC skills, including Microsoft Word and Excel, and knowledge of lending software; strong organizational skills and attention to detail, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment; demonstrated proficiency in all phases of loan documentation for commercial construction transactions; strong working knowledge of appraisal regulations and appraisal reviews

Experience: A minimum of five (5) years’ experience in related lending or banking positions preferred.
