Job Summary

We are seeking a highly strategic Commercial Director to lead business development, tendering, and overall commercial strategy across multiple large-scale construction and landscape projects. The ideal candidate will drive new business opportunities, develop competitive bids, oversee pricing strategies, strengthen client relationships, and ensure commercial excellence throughout the project lifecycle. This role requires a strong blend of commercial leadership, market intelligence, negotiation skills, and tender management expertise.


Key Responsibilities


  • Lead business growth initiatives by identifying, evaluating, and pursuing new project opportunities.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with clients, consultants, government entities, and key industry stakeholders.
  • Conduct market analysis to forecast trends and identify competitive advantages.
  • Prepare business development strategies, sales pipelines, and revenue forecasts.
  • Oversee preparation, review, and submission of tenders for construction and landscape projects.
  • Lead tender strategy, pricing, value engineering, and risk assessments.
  • Coordinate with engineering, planning, procurement, and finance teams to develop accurate and competitive proposals.
  • Develop commercial frameworks, policies, and systems that support sustainable growth and profitability.
  • Oversee contractual negotiations, LOIs, final agreements, and commercial terms.
  • Monitor commercial risks and opportunities across business units and projects.
  • Lead and mentor teams in business development, tendering, contracts, and commercial operations.
  • Strengthen internal capabilities through training, development, and clear KPIs.
  • Ensure alignment between commercial strategy and operational delivery.


Qualifications & Requirements


  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Engineering, Quantity Surveying, or related field (Master’s degree preferred).
  • Extensive experience in commercial leadership roles within construction or infrastructure sectors.
  • Proven track record in business development, tendering, and securing high-value projects.
  • Deep understanding of pricing strategies, estimation, contractual frameworks, and market dynamics.
  • Strong negotiation, communication, and client management skills.
  • Strategic mindset with the ability to lead cross-functional teams.
  • Familiarity with FIDIC or similar contract standards.
  • Professional certifications (MRICS, RICS, MBA) are an advantage.
